    • I meant KB4012218 (Windows 7). Due to (another) error in the lounge system the last digit was deleted when I only wanted to delete a space. I only noticed it just now (it was after 10 P.M. yesterday when I posted that message and I am really a morning person 😉

    • I meant KB4012218 (Windows 7).

And I now know why the last digit was deleted: after copying and pasting the KB number there is a space after the last digit. When I delete that space the last digit is also deleted, i.e. with one delete 2 characters are deleted. Must be a flaw in the lounge system.

    • I have a Skylake system (Pentium G4400) as a work in progress project (thus custom built) and just tested the March 2017 Preview of Monthly Quality Rollup KB4012218. After a reboot and another reboot just to be certain: Windows Update still works fine. No warning or error message whatsoever. Good news for now.

Thanks, but that KB does not mention KB3217877 anywhere, or am I missing something?

Thanks for your reply, but I wrote that I had already found it in Microsoft’s Update Catalog. My question is what KB3217877is/does. Hopefully somebody knows…

Thanks. Apparently MS17-018 should be corrected.

(My apologies for the double post, I assumed I was logged in but I wasn’t. Therefore my original response was Anonymous. That one may be deleted if an MVP reads this and can do that).

Thanks. I know it is for Vista as I am trying to update a Vista machine and want to have a speedier update process. In the past whenever a “magic update” replaced an earlier one, it was always indicated in the Security Bulletin. Because this time it states “None” in the “Updates replaced” column, I am wondering how EP knows KB4012497 replaces KB320472.

Are you sure that KB4012497 replaces KB320472? MS17-018 states “None” in the column Updates replaced.

    • in reply to: Daylight Saving Time #100843

Patch Tuesday follows US time and thus DST. I know because DST in Europe starts later (this year March 26) and ends sooner than the US. During those few weeks, when the time difference between Europe and the US decreases (e.g. from 6 to 5 hours between Amsterdam and New York), the updates arrive at 6 P.M. instead of the usual 7 P.M. (or 18:00 vs. 19:00 as we in Europe prefer it 🙂

    • in reply to: How to Keep Using Vista After April 11 #92423

You can still use Firefox for almost a year or so if you change to the Extended Service Release (ESR). In the week of March 6 ESR 52.0 will be released. if you change form the regular release to ESR at that time you will stay at the same version, so there will probably be no issues then. ESR 52 will then be supported for almost another year, so that will keep you safe until you change OS. I believe that Firefox is the only browser that will safely support Vista for almost a year. All the other browser makers have already given up on Vista, even before Microsoft stops supporting it.
