      Ragott,

      A couple more questions:
      1. Is everyone using the same version of Excel?
      2. Is everyone using the same version of Windows?
      3. Is the Start In folder on the local machine on on another machine on the Lan?
      4. How do the Shortcuts get on the machines, copied from another machine or manually added?

      David,

Welcome to the lounge. You should find both of the toolbars listed in the Add/Remove programs section of the Control Panel. You can Uninstall them from there.

      Sonny,

Have you checked the Task Scheduler to see if there is a task for MpCmdRun.exe -scan. If you find one there just right click on it and hit delete.

      Roy,

Here is the Wikipedia entry for IPV6. I’d read the sections starting with “IPv6 readiness” and then decide.
My take is it isn’t necessary at this time.

      Pappy,

I travel a lot in our motorhome and wi-fi at campgrounds is often very spotty, good at some sites very poor at others. I purchased a JefaTech 5Mw usb Wi-fi unit with an external antenna I put up on a painter’s pole outside the motorhome. It increases reception very effectively. Of course now my wife wants each to have our own laptops so I had to purchase a JefaTech modified Linksys router with their software to act as a repeater, also works great. You can take a look at their website with the link above. You may want to give them a call to see if they have a solution for your problem. I’ve been very impressed with their products and service. YMMV

Thought you were on to it, but when I went to view cookies and delete there were none. I’m using Firefox by the way.
      Where’s the internet cache?
      Thanks again.

      Pappy,

In FF it’s under Tools->Clear Recent History.

    • in reply to: Inserting rows in Excel 2003 #1253891

I am experiencing two issues when inserting rows in Excel 2003:

      1. Subtotals
When I have a row comprising subtotals of the rows above, and insert a row directly above it, the subtotals do not expand to include the new row. Is there a way automatically to include the new row in the subtotal in these circumstances ?
If I insert the new row between two rows which are included in the subtotal, then the subtotal does expand to include the new row.

      Martin,

This is standard Excel behavior. If you are using the SubTotal feature just remove them before inserting rows then re-apply after you’ve done your edits. If you have placed the SubTotal formula yourself what I do is always leave a blank row above Totals/SubTotals and include that blank row in the Range. Then when I need to insert I insert above the blank row, that way the insertion is considered to be within the range and the formula adjust accordingly. FYI: I also always place my Total/Sub total line on the Top of the Total/SubTotal line so it moves with Total/SubTotal line if I forget and insert above it!.

      Tim,

I tried the Pivot Table first also but couldn’t figure out how to get it to only work with a given date range vs the entire data set. Any Ideas how to do this with the Pivot Table?

      Howard,

I don’t know about 2010 but in 2007 you can goto the Office button -> Word Options {button at the bottom} -> Save.
The first item is Save files in this format: Use the dropdown and select: Word 97-2003 Document (*.doc). Then Click OK.

Here’s a solution you may be able to use: The macro in this worksheet will do an advanced filter to pull out a unique list of names. It then creates a work area with Name and NG as headers and will copy the names and place a SumProduct formula that will count the NGs by name. The work area is then copied and replaced with Values {sorting with the formulas active doesn’t work!}. The list is then sorted Ascending by NG count then Name Apha so your star performers percoluate to the top.

The macro depends on some dynamic named ranges {see Define Names}.
You can paste new data into the Data sheet then switch to the Calculate sheet, enter your date range and run the macro.

If this doesn’t solve your problem maybe it will at least give you some ideas.

      John,

If that’s the case have you seen the book “Microsoft Office Document Designer” by Stephanie Krieger ISBN: 0-7356-2037-7? It comes with a CD. This book takes the tables route to professional document design. I found it quite interesting. It’s a rather small book for $30.00 but interesting. It has a 2005 Copyright!

I have to use the pictures inside of tables.

      John,

      A couple of questions.

Why do you have to use tables?

Couldn’t you use a 2 column table and place the pictures in one cell and the text in another? I do this a lot in training manuals.
