      Thanks everyone for the feedback!

I checked out the AV-Test site. Surprisingly, I don’t see Webroot on there, although PC Mag heavily talks it up. Does anyone know how Webroot compares to other top-rated antivirus programs on there such as Trend Micro or Kaspersky?

I did see QuickHeal on there (which Thrityseven4 is just a custom-branded version of QuickHeal), and performance did score extremely low, and antivirus catching didn’t score as well as others, so it would probably be wise for me not to install TS4 on my system.

The latest AV-Test reviews are nearly 6 months old, as is Rubenking’s review of Webroot on PC Mag.
The products that consistently get top results on the various testing sites are Kaspersky, Bitdefender and Avira; all offer free trials.

Trev, are you on Chrome Version 53.0.2785.101 m ?

No, I don’t currently use Chrome. I get my emails through Windows Live Mail.

A fair review of Google Keep, which I use on a daily basis.

      As far as…
”It’s also an app you’re not likely to run across when using Chrome, Gmail, and other popular Google tools. I found out it about while reading a Windows Secrets Lounge thread. Oddly, if you sign in to Google and click the Google Apps icon, you won’t see it on the list — even if you click the More link. But there is a Google Keep site, and you will find it on the Google Products page.”
…is concerned, you can create shortcuts for easier navigation across your various Google products. Click on the Apps button and then “even more” and then choose any you want.
I mainly use mine on an Android phone and this article gives numerous tips and advice for using it. http://m.androidcentral.com/google-keep

      Wrong.

      Look again and scroll down.

Although I pay for the Pro version, this is good information for some friends/ family who rely on the free version.

I still use WLM and with Windows 10 and it works fine.
If I were you I would save my messages and reinstall WLM.

Every couple of years, Neil Rubenking at pcmag.com tests Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Here’s the last tests from 2014:

I can’t see much value in tests that are 2.5 years old.

Rather than screw around with the Mail app, just download and install ‘OE Classic’.
It loves GMail and will set it up for you, and all you need to put in is your email address and password….it does the rest.
I’ve used it now on several PC’s with various OS’s and it just works great, almost identical to Outlook Express.

      Cheers!
      The Doctor 😎

If you need access to more than 2 email accounts, you have to pay $25 for the Pro version.

I still get those once or twice a week, I just clear them. I know the scans are getting done.

I used to get them, but haven’t since unchecking the Windows Defender box in CCleaner under the heading Utilities.

    • in reply to: What AV are Windows 10 folks using? #1576321

      Settings->Update & security->Windows Defender

I knew where those settings were (also accessible from the WD UI), but could find nothing to implement the items I highlighted.

    • in reply to: What AV are Windows 10 folks using? #1576316

Win10 V1607 Anniversary has a much better Defender built in and it will run a real time scan if enabled in settings, and a BOOT SCAN in settings if needed.

      Where are these settings located?

I’m not sure this article exactly belongs in Windows Secrets. But aside from that, it’s a good reminder to be skeptical day in and day out.

My thoughts exactly, is there nothing more relevant to write about?

On Pro you can remove suggestions by going to Settings | Personalization | Start then set “Occasionally show suggestions on Start” to OFF. Isn’t that available on Home?

I have it on both Pro and Home, have never seen an ad on either.

    • in reply to: I just noticed my phone going through an upgrade … #1574437

I’ve used Apple, I bought an Android and kept it just shy of the 30 day buyer’s remorse period, and exchanged it for my Lumia 1520, my first Windows phone. I much prefer the Windows phone.

I had a Lumia 630 for a short while, Win8.1 from memory. It was a good phone but the App situation for Windows at that time was poor so I reverted to Android.

    • in reply to: I just noticed my phone going through an upgrade … #1574402

      For the avoidance of doubt:-
      1. I gave no technical opinion of Android, I merely expressed my opinion that I prefer it over other platforms.
2.I never suggested market share should be a factor in user choice.
3.On a Thread about phones, I pointed out that you had previously said you have no experience of Android phones.
Your posts are aggressive and full of bluster and I have no more time for this nonsense.
