1st: right-click on task bar — click on first(?) item in the context menu (called here “Symbolleisten”) — make sure the entry “media player” is NOT ticked
2nd: Start – Run – REGEDIT: go to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftMediaPlayerPreferences — change the value of ShowMinimizeDialog to 1

BTW:

I found a variety of web sites that describe essentially the same procedure for entering a new product key, which involves clearing a couple of entries in the registry, then running the registration program. It doesn’t work. The program does nothing, and when I look at the registry, the entries I cleared are back.

Has anyone done this successfully? What’s the trick?

When XP crashes it has no chance to write to its logfiles. You may try to reinstall Vuze.

o Install TweakUI
o Run TweakUI: Powertoys for Win XP in the start menu
o Select My Computer – Drives
o Select drives to be displayed
