Of course, but I’m looking to include this code within a bigger script, which will then run according to a schedule out of hours.

      Thanks,

OK, I’m with you. That would explain the difference between your first script and the second.

      Thanks again,

Brilliant! I’ve tested your script down to 7 subfolder levels.

All I need to do now is work out what you’ve done for my own curiosity and education!

      Thank you very much.

      Hi,

I had to change the “Next oSubFolder” and “Next fil” statements to just “Next” to get the script to work, but it does work! Thank you!

It is, however, failing to change the RO attributes on files lower down the folder tree…

      i.e.

Files within C:Test are successfully changed
Files within C:TestSubfolder1 are successfully changed
Files within C:TestSubfolder1SubfolderA (and in subfolders below) aren’t being changed?

I won’t know how many subfolder levels I’ve got under C:Test, it could go down quite a way. Any ideas?

      Thanks,

Thanks for that, but it was the subfolders under C:test that I was interersted in.

I’ve just posted a solution that uses the File Scripting Object rather than WMI.

      Cheers,

      Honestly…

You change one tiny word in Google and you get a completely different set of hits…including the answer you’ve been looking for days. See this link for a solution.

Is this what you are looking for ”Outlook 97/98 Help Desk Form”?

      Yep, have now…

I understand most of it and think it must be either a DCOM or RPC issue. The solutions offered seem to involve lots of Registry changes, which don’t seem appropriate for our environment (we are upgrading to Windows 2003 server soon and will be able to use the full functionality of the 2003 admin pack).

Having searched on the web, I did find one discussion thread almost exactly the same as this one! The person in question has applied the DCOM and RPC registry changes and is still experiencing the problem? Nothing, as yet, on MSKB or Technet either.

      Thanks for all your help,

      Hi,

I think that the only services that SP2 actually disables are “Alerter” and “Messenger”; whilst there are lots of modifications to others. I’m sure its a service modification which is causing this?

      Cheers,

By complete coincidence, I came across a VBS script that does the job and am posting for future reference.

You can find (and download) a script at http://www.billsway.com/vbspage/%5B/url%5D – look for the “Get IP Address” script. Note that all scripts on this site are copyrighted by Bill James and the usual disclaimers apply.

      Cheers,
