Charlotte, thanks again for responding. Like, why are you working on a gorgeous ( here anyway ) day like today? I have good news and I have bad news. The good news is I’ve got updates downloaded and installed up to my wazoo ( SP3-Wazoo ). The bad news is, it has made no difference whatsoever, so I’m not quite sure what to do now. I also tried opening up an empty database and copying everything in and that didn’t work either. Thanks anyways for all of your help.

      Hans:
Haven’t quite figured out what I was doing incorrectly before, but it doesn’t matter, because your approach worked perfectly. The one thing that I hadn’t mentioned that seemed to give me some problems was the fact that the tables are in the backend, but it still went OK. Thanks again for your help,

You can tell by the way I bounce from ‘room’ to ‘room’ that I don’t seem to have a life. But my teeth are good. Anyway, thanks for the great clue. When I entered your suggestion specifically, Works came back with an ‘offer’ to correct that version and returned, =(FIRSTNAME)&” “&(SURNAME) which worked perfectally. There but for the grace of a bracket type goes…… Thanks again, really appreciate it. Will get back to you with my other problem later in the day as once more I go off having to do something for someone else. Don’t ever retire, because they’re out there waiting for you.

      Hans,
Thank you for the very quick response. I’ve taken a quick look and tried to duplicate what you’ve suggested and it is very close. Unfortunately, I have to go to my friendly dentist in the next couple of minutes, so I will definetly get back to you this afternoon.
      Thanks again,

      Wendell:
Thanks for your response. You’re guess is a little off-base with respect to what I’m actually doing. It is a single form, with a combo dropdown, and I thought it would be neat to use the mouse wheel when scanning down through the dropdown. Since I posted this little problem, I’ve gone through every Access 2000 book that I own, (so many, I hate to admit to how many) and as you’ve probably guessed, no mention whatsoever to the little old mouse wheel, because, as you clariified for me, it didn’t come into Access existence until Access XP. Bummer! Anyway, thanks again, I really appreciate your getting back to me.

Thanks kindly for your code. I appreciate your time. It, and a few other variations on the same theme have once more bailed me out of my Access problems.

Figures Billy G. wouldn’t let us override his serfs easily. You can probably tell by the original question, that there are areas I’m a little bit unsophisticated in. If you happen to know where I could find an example of the Before Update code, you would definitely be on my Good Deed Doers of the Year List.

Don’t you just hate it when the answer is so simple! Thank you kindly. Without pushing my luck, any suggestions on how to get around that really long and boring and confusing message and providing something a little more simple? There has to be a way to ‘trap’ Billy G.’s verbosity and write in English. Again, many thanks.

If it’s not too much trouble, could you possibly illustrate the code that you would use to do this? help

    • in reply to: Paper Size Choices (Access 2000) #599608

Thanks again, Charlotte. Your suggestion is one that I haven’t pursued because the mere idea of the client opening anything in design mode, assuming I understand correctly, is just not a road I want to go down.
