Tony of course is correct – it would be an invasion of his privacy to pass his email address around.

Howsomever, Hans did say he’ll be checking in periodically, so if he sees your thread (or the one I started in what is NOW called Lounge Matters) he might write a post or send a PM or mental telepathy you. Who knows… But I wouldn’t try any further to find him.

I have an old keyboard that has no Windows key. Is there a key combination that emulates the Windows key?

Why not get a new keyboard, you ask? Because this one is an IBM solid-click behemoth that is built like a tank. It was manufactured in 1984 and I have been using it since then, and it still works as good as new. This keyboard is truly a delight to use.

Except it does not have a Windows key.

Or, this old gem which I used to remap the caps lock key to a tab function.

      MapKeyboard – Freeware keyboard remapper

Edited to add: I know you don’t physically have a Win key, but maybe the software would take that “function” (command) and remap for you.

Thanks Bigaldoc, I have already done that and it works beautifully. I just have to talk my Dad into getting one for himself.

Oh, I know that “struggle” all too well. I bought and installed Acronis AND a USB drive for my only son a few years ago when he purchased their new computer. Even took him through, and he wrote down the steps, a little weekly procedure for running CHKDSK, using Disk Cleanup for a modest removal of temp files, etc. and running a backup image.

Do you know that to this day, that “boy” has yet, to my knowledge EVER done an image of his system. I even put free Avast on his new computer but the last time I used his computer, I don’t see Avast anywhere in sight. Can you imagine the mess his system might be in now?

Things being what they are, ya know “stuff” happens, I envision the day that I’m gonna have to tell him to get out his Dell recovery CD and start all over…

With prices as reasonable as they are these days, you should also consider an external USB drive for dedicated use as a backup imaging destination.

I no longer use Acronis, but if memory serves, it works in a very similar fashion to Shadow Protect. You should have by now made a bootable Acronis program CD for recovery purposes if needed. That CD, along with an external USB backup drive will ensure that you are always able to restore a backup image when (if) needed.

This is a truism indeed~!~!~! I love OE on my XP and have managed to keep it whittled down in respect to mailbox folder sizes.

Use Thunderbird and you don’t have this kind of hassle (so far!)… I have MANY years of emails stored in my TB mail folders and have never ( ) had a hiccup. Yeah, TB takes about 30-60 seconds to load on startup but I don’t have to do that too often.
