I too have a similar issue with my video card.
After getting a LCD HD tv I installed a second video card with vga, video out and S-video out, as there is an occasional need for a large screen for video editing. It was an older card that I had in the component box.
The vga output to the TV is the best. Video out to the TV is not as sharp an image. S-video out to the TV is black and white and fuzzy.
You should stick with vga. You can acquire a simple vga splitter duplicate the monitor screen on the TV.
Of course if you update to a second or replacement video card, one with DVI or HDMI would be preferred.

      Chuck
If you repeatedly wish to archive to DVD you might consider the low cost DVD recorders currently on the market.
I have 2 in use that record to DVD+R and DVD+RW discs. For $79 at WalMart they record better quality than VHS.
I mostly record to reusable +RW and simply reformat. If there is a need to save the disc, the cost is about the same as a VHS tape and the disc takes up less storage space. With video/audio inputs, I am in the process of moving a lot of tape to disc. This may be only a raw footage copy, but I don’t have use the PC.
TIVO has that monthly cost attached to it which I do not like.

If Word appears not to launch, yet there is an entry on the taskbar, simply right click on the Word taskbar entry and select Maximize.

      Good luck

I have had a Syntax LT27HV for over 6 months with no problems.
How does HD TV programming appear on the screen? Your cable provider must provide HD service for this as the Syntax TV is w/o an HD tuner. My HD service gives me about a dozen channels. Once you catch the Super Bowl in Wide Screen HD you will want an even larger screen.
Using a progressive scan DVD player via the YCbCr component connections provides a better quality image but will not fill a 16:9 screen unless it is a HVD in an expensive HD disk player. (search Google “high definition DVD”)
I would keep the TV as your price was better that that for my 27″ one.

      Hi there,
The installation process for Excel 5.0 looks for a file ‘share.exe’
Since Win 98 does not need or use it none exists.
Simply create a small file and name it share.exe
I think it belongs in the Windows or WindowsSystem folder (It has been a long time since I resolved an issue like this.)

      Good luck,

The first thing I would do is to check Tools/Options on the print tab to make sure that ‘Draft output’ is NOT checked and that ‘Drawing objects’ IS checked.

      Good luck,

From your description, I can assume that you already have a table positioned behind a photo. So I won’t go through that process.
To put photo behind the table simply (with Word 2000) right click on photo, select ‘Order’ and off of that click on ‘send behind text’.

      Good Luck

This situation can also be due to a sticky shift key. Have them tap the shift key a couple of times to free it up.

      Mike,

My first response was made late in the night here.
Now when checking against your actual sample, I noted the the numbers have a leading blank. This alters the formula slightly in order to accommodate for it.

      =IF(LEFT(A3,4)=” 071″,” 081″&RIGHT(A3,LEN(A3)-4),A3)

    • in reply to: Find & Replace (2K) #665685

      Mike,
The SUBSTITUTE function is not ideal for your case as it will alter the first occurrence of the string “071”.
You only would like to alter the first 3 digits if they are “071”

      Try using: =IF(LEFT(A1,3)=”071″,”081″&RIGHT(A1,LEN(A1)-3),A1)

Copy down and do the copy, paste special/values sequence after checking the results.

      Good luck,

See here for a more complete description of =rand(x)
This functionality has been around since Word 97 and I have used it to quickly generated known text within a document while discussing word issues over the phone. It’s a quick way to generate q 12 page document for al sorts of testing of styles, formats, paging, etc.

    • in reply to: Corrupted document (Word 2000) #662608

I cannot explain the exact cause of this issue, yet. But attached is a non-corrupt version of the document with the exception of the quote matks.
I accomplished this by selecting all text and changing the font to ‘Arial Alternative’ This is the attached document.
You can now secect the text (Be careful of avoiding the graphics), do ‘Edit/Copy’, and then with the text selected do ‘Edit/Paste Special’ and selected ‘unformatted text’. Once done, save the document with a differewnt name. Now the text can be selected and changed to the font desired without the boxes popping up. At least this worked for me.

Arial Alternative supplied by Microsoft especially for use with HyperTerminal. It is located in the OTHERMINITEL folder on the Win95 CD, or at the official download site ( http://www.microsoft.com/windows/software/otherutils.htm ), or at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/download/mintel.exe

      Hope this helps.
