      Thanks Hans
But did not resolve the problem. Must be some other problem that my pc is not executing the launch file. Tried the usual disabling firewall with no joy. Unable to re-install Mojopac U3 as afraid I shall lose all my data and settings stored.

Thanks Joe, that was a help and searching for “audio drivers” on that link did produce some good threads. Obviously giving some problems.
      Cheers

Discovered on the new skype Tools / Options / Audio Settings it keeps going back to the default setting of “windows default device” on the pull down menu at each startup, although I select “USB audio drive” and save. Re-setting skype each time to “usb” allows me to use my internet phone as before, although its now a minor nuisance to change every time at startup.

Thanks Hans. Did not realise the program .NET Framework 1.1 was installed until recently and read that to uninstall may cause problems.
Warning on the Service Pack 1 install “Once you have installed this item, it cannot be removed”. Shall take your advice and install SP1 although I will not use it and if it is not going to cause a problem I will just leave it on as I believe it is a small program.

Thanks Al. Still getting familiar with posting replies.

Brilliant. Thanks for that information. Another notch on your belt. It was indeed the search and recover program with the added option to terminate. Would never have found that without your help. Did not associate the recover program with permanent termination of files. It now means I do not have to uninstall the program, only uncheck the box and should I require to permanently delete a file I simply check box, use and then uncheck again. Shall be more at ease now when the children are on the pc.
Keep up the good work. Regards.

Yes, had already tried that and all I get is a message “Are you sure you want to delete? File will not be recoverable”. Does not show any other options by right clicking.

Thanks Viking, I went ahead and run the program but it did not find any virus/worm on the pc.
Mystery why I received the error message but I just went ahead and reinstalled my programs and settings the old fashioned way and I am back up and running with new pc. At least it rules out the virus/worm which was good.
      Cheers.

Downloaded the removal tool and documentation but having a slight problem confirming the digital signature. As instructed downloaded the chktrust.exe file and then went to the command prompt to verify. According to the instructions I should have received the following if valid “Do you want to install and run W32.Sasser Removal Tool signed on ________and distributed by :Symantec Corporation.” I do not get any message at the prompt, only a window security warning. I also checked on the Trusted Publishers tab for Symantec Corporation but there was no sites here. There was however under the Trusted Root Certification authorities one issued to Symantec Root CA. I do not have any Symantec programs on my pc.
Is it safe to remove this from here and should I go ahead and run the tool even though I cannot confirm digital signature as per documentation?
Hope I am not being too cautious but do not want to experience earlier problems of pc looping.
      Comments and advice appreciated.

I have the latest ZA security suite. Recently my pc did start to reboot in a loop and I thought it was caused with Norton Goback clashing with Acronis (see post 640,211 23-Mar-2007) but from what you say it may be this worm. Shall keep you posted. Thanks

    • in reply to: lssas.exe #1063334

Thanks for that viking. Shall give it a go. Don’t understand why ZA did not remove or flag this.

    • in reply to: Unable to uninstall norton goback (Windows XP Home sp2) #1061014

Thanks Viking, I only tried to manually uninstall the Norton shared files as per Kapling advice. But all seems well now although these files are still on the pc. Shall leave and see how things go.
      Cheers everyone.

Okay, created a restore point and then went to registry and deleted that file and one or two others that I had missed which had a reference to Symantec. Re booted and the pc got to my personal screen and then closed down and started to loop again. I pressed F8 and started the pc from the choice ” restart from last known good configuration” as I could not see an option to start from a created restore point in the choices. The pc started okay and I then tried to restart my pc from the restore point created. The pc restarted and then again started to close and loop again. I have now restarted again using the last known good configuration. How do I tell which date this is from and would there be any harm in leaving these in the registry? Don’t really understand why the pc looped when all I did was create a restore point and rebooted to this when the change to registry did not work and why the original problem arose again.
