No success with that suggestion as I am getting the message that the best driver was installed. Perhaps the screenshot attached with the diag will help you target the fault. Two bullet points mention another problem other than the driver. Can you interpret this. Thanks

Many thanks Hans. Problem resolved using the winword /r command although still get a glimpse of the “open document” window as a .doc file opens from explorer. Can live with that.
      Regards

Thanks Hans – have tried without success. The only thing I could not find to uncheck was the office plug-in for Norton, which I don’t think I have. I tried disabling Norton auto-protect completely and even put one presentation on the exclusion list to see if that worked – nope. I now notice that this message is at the bottom when opening Word and Excel. Any way to even turn this off when opening a large file?

I am beginning to lose the plot. This has just started as I have had ZAP installed for a long time without this problem. I also have MShome as a Trusted zone but have not tried removing all the MS entries as yet. Had hoped to resolve it without going through that door. Have now found that by going into privacy settings/ cookies/ custom settings and unticking all the boxes I can reach Windows Update and I shall just use that route to check and download updates. Cheers and thanks to all.
