The “Power Button Action” box? That is already set to shut down, unfortunately. I think that’s just for the power button on the front of the case anyway, so maybe I’m in the wrong place. Incidentally, pushing the power button on the front of the case turns off the HD but leaves the keyboard, mouse, etc on just like clicking on shut down.

      Sounds like a design “feature”.

    • in reply to: Windows 7 Clean Install #1203393

I have read that it is best to do a clean install of Windows 7 and agree that it is best option. However, I have a new laptop with Vista installed from the factory and it has a few programs that are needed to make options of the laptop usable. The manufacturer has the drivers available for download but not those few programs. The programs I need are on the restore partition but I do not know how to access that partition from a clean install of Windows 7. I have done an upgrade and have the programs in the upgraded version of Windows 7. I need help to install those needed programs from the hidden partition into a clean install of Windows7. Your assistance is appreciated.

If that partition is hidden, you can’t get to it. There are probably no programs in installable for there anyway.

      Matt,
You may need to try and find Windows 7 drivers for the make and model of your NIC and Wireless, from the OEM.

Your upgarde most likely is using the “Generic” drivers that come with Windows 7.

Why? He said his LAN access is fine; it only his Net access that’s slow. That says “modem” to me.
