      You may need to try and find Windows 7 drivers for the make and model of your NIC and Wireless, from the OEM.

      Your upgarde most likely is using the “Generic” drivers that come with Windows 7.

      Why? He said his LAN access is fine; it only his Net access that’s slow. That says “modem” to me.

      I’m not so sure about that, since I took ownership of the Start menu, none of my installed programs show on the All Programs list – they’re all still there if I open the All Users explorer though.

      Well that’s something else then. I mean the right-click crashing.

      Have you tried booting from your Windows 7 install DVD-ROM?

      Does your laptop not have a repair partition?
