    • in reply to: “Samy worm” author now targets your router #1202262

I am trying to reply to the article “Adobe Reader updates to become automatic “. The link from the newsletter took me here… hope this is the right place…
I disable Adobe Reader’s Startup Items after updating to a newer version each time by unchecking both the Adobe Acrobat (Reader_sl.exe) as well as the Adobe Reader and Acrobat Manager (AdobeARM.exe) from the Startup tab of Window’s System Configuration utility. Is either of these items the Acrobat Refresh Manager you referred to in your Windows Secrets Newsletter • Issue 227 • 2010-01-14, or are you referring to something else? Also, will there be any way of turning off the ‘Refresher’ after April 13? Thanks, Brady

    • in reply to: Conditional Format days (2007 SR-1) #1148949

Alternatively, you can use this condition:

      Weekday([testdate], 2) < 6

The 2 as second argument specifies that Monday is used as first day of the week, so Monday = 1, Tuesday = 2, …, Saturday = 6 and Sunday = 7.

Thanks Hans. The additional info always helps to let me know what is going on in the Access mind. Sorry for not thanking you earlier but the site update (which by the way looks great) kept me locked out until now. Keep up the good work!

    • in reply to: Conditional Format days (2007 SR-1) #1148948

You want to set a conditional formatting using the “Expression Is” condition as follows (assuming your field is “testdate”):

      Weekday([testdate]) Between 2 and 6

And then choose your display characteristics accordingly.

Thanks Mark. You guys are GREAT! Sorry it took so long to say thank you. As you know, your site was down for the upgrade, which, by the way looks great too! Thanks again.

Thanks Hans for taking a look anyway.

      You’re the best!

      John,
Excellent! excellent! excellent! Many thanks. I appreciated the explanation too. I am obviously not a veteran. I found one little glitch in my records appeared when first or middle names were hyphenated. So, I changed your expression to:
      =UCase([LastName]) & “, ” & [FirstName] & ” ” & [MiddleName]
…and now it works just fine.
This also solved a similar problem when nicknames, that I have the habit of putting in parenthesis, were added. Since now the first letter of the name was actually the second letter of the word, it always appeared as lowercase… Just thought you might like to put that into your ‘bag of tricks’ for future reference. John, thanks again. Your lounge is great!

    • in reply to: datasheet combo box refresh (2000/SP-3) #1027344

Hans, you are indeed a genius… I guess you get that all the time. Anyway, I thank you TREMENDOUSLY. Also thanks for the explanation as to why this is so. Even though the code you wrote is a little out of my league, it sure is nice to know why I have been banging my head against the wall for two days. Thanks again.
      Sincerely,
      Brady

Hans, attached you will see the School.mdb problem

    • in reply to: datasheet combo box refresh (2000/SP-3) #1027326

Thank you Hans! However, the list still does not appear in date sequence after the Update for some reason… Anything else in your ‘bag of tricks’ that might work?
