AskWoody LoungerManaged to unzip it, but the software won’t run – error message says the “. . . application must be launched from the original HP SimpleSave storage solution.” I am weary tonight – will check back in a day or two. I want to thank you so very, very much for your kind help. I’m not good at this, and I am grateful for those who are and so generously help me here in the Lounge. Peace, P

AskWoody LoungerIts there – how do I run it?

WSBrPatrick
AskWoody LoungerI’ll do it again. Be right back – and thank you.

AskWoody LoungerIt opens like a folder – sadly there is no HP SimpleSave.exe – what should I do?
-
WSBrPatrick
AskWoody LoungerThanks – its in my downloads – how do I run it from there?
-
WSBrPatrick
AskWoody LoungerHi,
Thanks very much – I tried that, but the file is the whole application file and too large for the launcher partition that is shown. I can not open the SimpleSave drive, and the one time it opened on another computer, the properties indicated the drive was full. I cannot reformat it on either machine, the report box indicating simply that Windows was unable to refomat the CDFS file.
I certainly appreciate your help.

AskWoody LoungerHi Joe,
The pix and scans are normal – like a Google Earth full page and the scans are generally of text and some are converted to pdf. There are no error messages – the print job fails . . . precisely when the fax form pops up. It is maddening. The fax has not been set up as I have no need for it. I suspect I am doing the same wrong thing over and over to fix it . . . sure hope you can give me some direction. I can’t even figure out how to convert the pdf to word so it will print. Oh well . . . Thanks again for your help and kindness. P

AskWoody LoungerHi Joe,
The printer is installed, works for everything other than printing scans and jpegs just fine. The System Restore worked successfully when run from Safe Mode. Perhaps it was my Norton 360 that caused it to fail, I don’t know. The install checked HP and Windows update several times, so I think the latest drivers were installed. I plugged in the cable when the software told me to. I am unaware of whether I have an image backup of the system, though the os seems to be okay, albeit a bit slow.
Thanks much. P

AskWoody LoungerHi Clint –
An update, – I installed XP on this machine. It ran far too slow to accomplish anything, so installed Win98. Is there a patch that will allow me to use my wi-fi card that worked on the old win98se? Thanks.
-
WSBrPatrick
AskWoody LoungerYes, I did and it worked fine, albeit very slow. I can live with that, no problem.

AskWoody LoungerThanks very much Paul. I am grateful.
Am using WPA here. Sadly there is not enough room to upload SP2. I am just trying to get this old machine to work . . . can the necessary component from SP2 be downloaded alone, and how do I do that?
I am certainly grateful for your kindness. P

AskWoody LoungerThanks very much – I’ll give it a try. Hate to waste a machine . . . someone likely has a use for it around here. Peace to you. P
