    • Hi Deb,

Thanks for your reply – yeah I did contact them – apparently they are in Russia and they are not able or willing to get it working so that the gifs are animated.

I have asked for a refund . . . not likely to happen. They asked for the presentation, converted it themselves and discovered the same problem – the text animations work, but the gifs don’t.

Alas, I don’t know. Maybe I’ll use Producer, and try that, but I’m not sure it will post and run without conversion and its likely to lose features using this software. Its disappointing. I am doing this for a friend to learn the technology so I can apply it to my own stuff. If you want to see the end result, its on http://www.writefirm.com – Blogs and a Movie, Too! It is much cuter when everything is working . . .

Peace. And thanks for your help!!

      Hi Jerry,

Thanks!! My ISP does allows password protected files – glad you mentioned it, and so I asked. The modules themselves will be created in Powerpoint, then converted to Flash. The outside skin of the site itself – I thought – would be Publisher. Macromedia has an application – but it is far too expensive for me.

This is a free thing – not fee, and so expenses must be moderate.

      Thanks again. Best thoughts.

      Hi EddyM,

No, the speakers are desktop, not alongside the monitor – BUT thanks very much for the help.

      Hi John,

SB Live! Wave. Finally got system sounds, did the MS Sound Troubleshoot, then Gateway driver upload – but nothing else.

      Oh well . . . Thanks.

      Hi Bob,

Thanks for the counsel – checked the device manager first – no flags, did that and the mute boxes on all three users on the machine – no change. Just checked it all again, nada. This happened to me once before and I can’t recall the fix – it was simple, but couldn’t find it then either.

      Appreciate the help, thanks.

      Hi John,

Thanks for the insight – wish I had known all this before spending time creating it in Publisher. I appreciate the understanding, and I also appreciate that you took the time again to help me slice this whole electronic thing into easy to munch bites. I suspect you help lots of folks, and that is really cool. Peace.

      Hi Michael,

Sadly you are right . . . seems I will just use the site authoring tools offered by my new host rather than Publisher.

Peace – I appreciate your good copunsel.

      Hi Dave and Doc . . .

Wow, you guys are good. Upon reflection, its not worth the hassle to re-install v 5 just for that purpose. I’ll just stagger away from them, musing about the glitch the programers put in the program . . . and ponder why.

Otherwise, The Lounge has been of great value – and quickly, too – again. Thanks much, guys.

      Hi Doc,

Wasn’t even phone . . . email. The truth is that the new one IS much better, and the room thing isn’t all that important to me, its just that things go quickly in there and by voice I can keep up with the questions about my ‘unique’ lifestyle, whereas by fingers . . . I am quickly lost. Perhaps its better that I keep within my bounds, anyway – but thats another story.

I wonder if its something I need to turn on . . . or if its a default thing within the program. FAQ’s within the Dragon site fail to address the issue, the help files do likewise. So far, it works in IE and all of the Office applications I routinely run, so its just that little thing . . . and if it didn’t make my life so much easier, I’d return it for sure!!

      Peace.

      Hi Jerry,

Alas, he has left – this occurred last evening and I am just getting to it this am. It IS annoying – hermits rarely have visitors and so this is even more grim than my usual operator errors of which there are many. It is possible, I suppose, that it simply died. If there is not a series of strokes that awakens it . . . I don’t know. I have tried to go into the troubleshoot and properties dialog box – when I click on either, there is no response. There appears to be no driver updates. I don’t know. I really appreciate your help, though.
