      Hi Hans –

Thanks – but how do I get the edited text back into the pdf document? It won’t paste it.

Here is the fix from MSN Hotmail –

      Open Internet Explorer.
Click View and go to Encoding.
      Point to More.
      Select Western European (Windows)
Click Tools and then Internet Options
Click the General Tab to activate it
      Click the Accessibility button
Under Formatting – make sure the three check boxes are not marked. If they are, uncheck them and click ok to save the changes

Don’t yet know if it works.

      Hi John,

You were absolutely correct – while nothing seemed to be wrong, everything was enabled and functioning properly – did as you suggested and went to knowledge base – searched – there was an article about no sound after installation – bingo – system sounds were off – one click and it worked.

      Thanks!!

      Peace.

      Hi Big Al,

Sadly – nothing I am doing seems to be doing the job. The mute boxes are not checked, the devices are operating properly, the speakers are on. Didn’t have the box off during reinstall and the speakers worked prior to it. Thanks for your help – I am at a loss.

You’ve helped me before – thanks again. In a brutal world, kindness is extra cool. I am grateful.

      Hi Joe,

Thanks – ran Norton and then this morning did what you advised – downloaded MS03-26 – then KB833330 – didn’t work the other way around. I am grateful for your help. I am learning!!! I suspect the Blaster worm likely caused me all sorts of trouble and I addressed it by the clean install. With any luck, it won’t revisit, now.

      Peace.

      Hi Joe,

Thanks for the help – an A/V scan is the Norton Scan (I hope)? I will run it now.

      Peace.

      John,

Thanks very much. While I don’t know too much about either Win98 or XP, I am grateful for the feedback. Alas, I am hopeful the fix will work as it is annoying to find my moden has decided not to release the line as I have only one . . . all too few phone calls to be sure, but if needed, someone should be able to get through and I find that I fail to check it faithfully . . . I should perhaps develop better habits – thanks again.

      Peace.
