I love Ubuntu and used it exclusively for everyday stuff, it is way more secure, and since several of the programs I use are Windows only I had my computer set up for dual boot into both OS’s. But Ubuntu changed their installation, if I remember correctly they quit using grub during installation, making dual boot installation confusing, for me, on my new laptop. So now, I would love to put Ubuntu on my laptop but want to keep Windows 7, but I’m not sure how to do it. I’ve tried before and ended up installing over Windows 7 and had to reinstall 7.

Better yet, buy a Samsung Galaxy Tab, like I did, and you’ll never have this issue!

I’ve had my Nook Color for almost a year now and I love it. I’m still trying to find out what exactly an iPad can do that my NC can’t. Granted no camera or mic-but who cares. I have cameras and mics on my desktop and netbook and hardly ever use them. I don’t see every one walking around w/ their iPads talking on Skype all the time, so I’m guessing it’s a moot point. I also don’t need to take photos w/ my NC as I have a nice dslr digital camera. I don’t need to call anyone on it, I have my cell phone. With all the updates and new apps for the Nook Color I have Quickoffice, so I can do anything there. I can browse the web either using the built in web browser-which actually works fine- or Puffin which is fine as well. I also have Flash and watch videos. I have Netflix. I don’t have Hulu, but really don’t care as I don’t subscribe to them. I IM my friends when needed, I play games, can draw, type letters and emails, read books (obviously) and when I’m done put my NC in it’s nice leather case and stick it in my purse. Screen size is perfect, even with my horrible eye sight. I don’t need to be connect to the web constantly as I do have a life. If I’m about and about, then I’ll go to Starbucks or some other place w/ free wi-fi. And since I have my dsl w/ Century Link, I have access to wi-fi in many places. So once again, I find myself asking the question, why would I spend $300.00, or more, to do the same things other tablets can?

I thought this was Windows Secrets not ipad secrets…this was like a big commercial for the ipad. If it doesn’t play nice with Windows (and what Apple product does?) then buy something that does..Happily sent from my Nook Color!

I’ve used TaxAct for several years now for myself and my family. They DO allow you to save your tax files to your computer in the form of a PDF. When its time to print the finished tax forms I just use the PDF printer instead of my ink jet printer and save them that way so I have hard and soft copies of the taxes.

I will keep my desktop computer, thank you very much. While I’m no computer genius, I do work on my own computer, I had to learn myself as I wasn’t about to spend ton’s of money on someone else doing it for me and the desktop is so cheap and easy to fix; most of the time. Plus with my 23 inch flatscreen monitor, I can see everything! I work on my photos, graphics, watch Netflix, Hulu and anything else without straining my eyes. I also love my keyboard and can’t imagine not having one. I’m old school and used to manual typewriters, yeah I’m that old, so I like to pound away when typing lengthy emails. I use it so much I wear out the letters on it! Try typing 60wpm with out a keyboard. LOL

Tablets look cool, but I will never buy one. I just recently got me a HP Mini Netbook and I love it! I got it for work and I can use it all day long without charging the battery. My netbook has way more power than my desktop did about 10 years ago, so I can’t complain about it at all. I can even flatten it out completely and carry it like a book in my arm and walk around the office while using it. And I still have a keyboard! And with my eyesight, I can still see the screen no problem. Actually I was a bit surprised at how well I could see things. Granted it’s limited real estate for viewing, but I’m not going blind trying to view anything on the screen. Ipad is hype and limited. They can keep it!
