I too will become a member of the free version too when the changes comes.. I could afford the $10 US I paid for the subscription , but as a pensioner, and with our dollar tanking, I will not become a $25 paid member ..
It’ll just be another forum I used to belong to when it was free or by donation, but bought out and fee based . Not only did their focus change, but they priced me out of their subscriptions .

The camera would allow you to delete everything at once on the card in one shot by using the format command. Messy and time consuming though. If he uses the card reader in the pc, he can choose to delete the files on the card after transfer to the pc, and that feature may be present in the other photo/ video handling programs..

I must say I am mystified why there is the resistance to getting Microsoft and Google accounts. I have and use both, including their e-mail services , and do not have any problem with spam because of their use. Tracking by them is no worse than it is by other services you use and sites you may visit. We are in a world of constant surveillance on the street and in shops, and tracking on the net.

A few days ago, for about 3 hours the update to MB’s database made it detect ALL the files in the Windows System 32 folder as viruses / malicious programs; and all who had the Pro version with constant monitoring set to automatic quarantine had their windows crashed.. Many had to reinstall Windows. Some were lucky enough to be able to use System Restore to recover. Those who had their MB set to Notify were ok as long as they didn’t ok the quarantine. Free users were safe unless they chose to quarantine when they ran a scan. If you’re running the paid Pro version , set it to notify on detection rather than auto-quarantine. Check out the Malwarebytes users forum.

One place a virus can hide and reload itself after it has been cleaned out is in the System Restore files. When you are clearing out a virus such as you had, shut down System Restore, run your anti-virus programs ( make sure if you have a second drive to set the scanners to full scan both drives) and when all is clean turn System Restore back on and create a restore point .

    • in reply to: Phone call scam/security warning #1326003

Several of us kept a scammer going on e-mails after he tried to scam an aquarium forum member who had posted on CraigsList looking for some ornamental shrimp.
Scammer replied with a fantastic price , but a lot of money to ship. The forum member asked about the deal on the forum and we told him it was a scam….Then a member decided to see if we could keep the crook going by asking if the deal was open to others as well. Of course !..So it started . We asked about other tropical pets and were assured he could supply all. We went from requesting shrimp to all sorts of requests .. The scammer wasn’t wise enough to Google latin names so he offered to ship one member a pair of Physeter macrocephalus ( save you the Google—- Sperm whales ) to breed in his 20 gallon aquarium .
one member asked for mermaids.. I told him to include the latin name, made up of course , Pseudotropheous nummygal…and sure enough .. He had them . All mails and responses were posted on the forum for all to laugh at. We kept him going for 3 days, several e-mails a day over shipping costs and availability before the game came to an end .

    • in reply to: Windows 7 64-bit and older file systems #1293890

I would suggest you removeall your old drives from that case. Install 2 new drives. Put your OS on one and use the second only for making backups of the data on your OS (C) drive. Windows 7 has a built in backup program. You can configure it to do automatric backups of your data , and you can also use it to do an image backup.
Label and store your old drives and get an external USB adapter to connect them to the pc when you want to pull data from them. You can get an adapter to connect a bare IDE or SATA ( 2.5 or 3.5″) drive, including DVD writers, to your pc through USB.
If you really want to , install 3 drives in your case.. Use your C drive for OS and programs , a second drive for automatic data backups and the third just for image backups of the C drive. You pc will use less power and run cooler on top of being used more efficiently, as well as always having the data backed up automatically . The USB adapter will allow you to read all your old drives, right back to the earliest IDE ones.
