I renamed normal.dot and it started to work. I doubt if it was conflicting shortcuts, as none of the keybindings seemed to work. Probably a corrupted normal.dot. Thanks for your help…Dan

      Here you go Hans….Dan

Even more info: if I *attach* the template to the active document, then the keybinding works on that document. Does that mean that you must attach a template to a document for its keybindings to work on that document? If that’s the case, then what’s the point of loading a template as opposed to attaching it?

More info: when I actually open my .dot file (rather than merely loading it as an addin via the Templates and Addins dialog), then my keybindings work. However, if I then open another document (so that document is active rather than my .dot file), the bindings stop working. I thought that, if my .dot file is loaded as an addin, its bindings should be in effect whether the .dot file is the active doc or not. Again–I’ve seen this work before.

      Didn’t help.

Yes, all is well there. And when I run DoBindKeys, the keybindings still don’t show up. I’m going to try rebuilding the template from scratch. Maybe it’s corrupted.

      Nothing.

But what if I have run it prior to loading the addin. In other words, I’ve saved the keybindings in the dot file and then distributed it.

    • in reply to: Toggling Word ShortCuts on/off (2000 2002 2003) #993340

Well–it sort of is. The problem I’ve run into is that, if I want to have a Crosseyes type dialog as a child window of the main Word Window, I apparently have eliminate the title bar from the dialog. (If I don’t, I can’t seem to actually input anything in the dialog). So, then, when I get rid of the title bar, Word seems to think that it is the one which handles all the shortcuts before it gives my dialog a chance. If I could figure out a way to intercept the shortcuts before Word gets them, that would be an even better solution to the problem.

Yes, keyboard shortcuts. I am embedding a dialog into Word (similar to what Crosseyes does) and, when that dialog has focus, I don’t want Word’s shortcuts to override the dialog shortcuts. When it loses focus, I want to re-enable Word’s shortcuts.

Thanks Hans. That’s what I was doing to get around this. My boss–for reasons not quite clear to me–wants to be able to clean out these pivot tables so that we can start completely from scratch with only the fields and table layout defined.

    • in reply to: Error deleting pivotitems (2000 2002 2003) #972850

Thanks Hans. However, after making the suggested changes, I still get the same behavior. It appears that, if the pivotitem has underlying data associated with it, Excel won’t let me delete it. Does that sound right?

Thanks very much. I will take a look at the document and think about your proposed solution….Dan
