AskWoody LoungerStuart, thanks so much for the code.
As soon as I get to work tomorrow, I’m going to run it and see if this will work for everyone. Very exciting stuff! I’ll post back with the outcome.

AskWoody LoungerThanks for taking the time to reply Phil.
I wish I could do it that way but I actually send out a list to all staff that contains hyperlinks to the recently changed documents. We do in fact have a TOC and Index on our Intranet but we spoil the staff by giving them hyperlinks direct to the changed documents. I would venture a guess to say that the staff rarely, if ever, use the Intranet for checking out the P&P’s. They just use my email that contains the latest changes. So of course, when staff open up a linked document, they are wondering what changes have been made to that document. I understand their reason; sometimes it’s only title changes that have been made in a document and other times it’s major procedural changes. They (staff) are looking for an even easier way to quickly discern the difference between old and new. I’m still struggling a bit with this as I certainly could use Word’s hiliting feature but it would be quite time consuming on my part as I would have to have the old copy in front of me while hiliting the changes to the new copy on the screen. Ah well, possibly we are again spoiling them even more by considering this!

AskWoody LoungerTHANKS!
I thought I had looked all over the options menu but apparently I missed it. It is in fact under Tools, Options, Web Options, and then I unchecked “save new web pages as Single File web pages”.
Phew…re-setting upgrades is nasty! Thanks again for your help.

AskWoody LoungerThanks for the suggestions. I know I tried the “compare” feature in WORD a few years ago and was disappointed with the results but possibly it works better in 2003. I’ll give it a whirl and see if anything has changed. I’ll post back with the results. Thanks also for the links to the software….that could be a possibility as well!

AskWoody LoungerThanks for the replies. I have checked my auto correct/format list and it isn’t showing in there. I have changed my keyboard language and the regional settings to English UK with no luck. As I left work tonight the nasty thing reared up again….this time using the “/” key. My only resolution to this was to go into symbols and insert the darn slash that way. Interestingly, we just went through a computer refresh at my work (which of course means all previous personalized settings were wiped out) and there are a few of us having this intermittent problem. I’ll keep searching for an answer….there’s always an answer somewhere!

AskWoody LoungerOh yuck. I can answer some of the questions but as I don’t have the router yet, and can’t remember all the specifics about it, all I can say is that it is a D-link…sorry. It was a really, really good price so I hope I haven’t ordered a chees-y model! I will be connecting one computer via an ethernet connection and the other with a wireless card (which I have but haven’t installed yet). I have a firewall and antivirus software in one computer and as soon as the other is “live” to the internet, I will be adding those items as well. Am I good to go once I have installed these items on the other computer then? Or should I just wait until I have the router and post back?

AskWoody LoungerSuccess! I feel like I’m using this forum as a sounding board for myself but I do have the answer this time. There is a copy of the hh.exe file in the winnt/servicepacks/i386 folder. I copied that file to C/Winnt and I now have full functionality of my help files. Be nice is Microsoft would give a little hint like that in the support section of their website!

AskWoody LoungerOK….I spoke too soon. I still can’t access any windows help files. I have downloaded all the help files via MS’s website but that doesn’t seem to address the missing hh.exe issue. Any suggestions? (I have also run a virus check on my system and all is well).

AskWoody LoungerI think I have found the answer to this from the Microsoft site. For anyone with a similar problem, check out Knowledge Base Article #268353.

AskWoody LoungerThanks Alan. I wonder if I’m actually seeing Spyware Blaster do it’s job when this happens: I have noticed that while I am on the internet lately, the progress bar at the bottom of the screen that normally indicates that a page is loading will flicker quite quickly from time to time (as I’m typing this it’s happened twice). Does this have anything to do with this program?

WSDeb G.
AskWoody LoungerThank you Hans. That makes perfect sense the way you explained it. I guess I’m just conditioned to “run” programs or perform “scans” so I wondered why I didn’t have to do anything with this program. I’m now enlightened!
