I totally agree with Hans. I have used ‘meaningful’ keys at a users request only to discover down the track that a different meaning is being inferred, or a new meaning needs to be incorporated. I usually ask the question, ‘Why does your key need to be meaningful?” If it is to refer to something by a label that is already widely known, then that is a valid answer. But if the ‘meaning’ being built in is descriptive, then ask the user if he/she wants to exclude a description field. If the answer is No as it usually is, advise that you are storing the same data twice, (and usually in adjacent fields, as the description invariably follows the key in database design).

I then advise the user, that I will hide the Key Field being generated automatically in combo boxes etc, so the user will only see the description anyway.

Having said all this, Hans’s advice is very good. If there is a legitimate reason to use a ‘meaningful’ key then do so, otherwise a autonumber key is very useful.

While Charlotte will usually stand up for herself without any help from others, I feel that I should point out that she has helped literally thousands of posters with her helpful comments. If you cant accept help when it is given, please look elswhere.

      Thanks John,

That just might do the trick. Will look into it further.

Maybe we confused each other earlier. When I send an e-mail with 500+ recipients, there is only one e-mail in the outbox. ISP confirmed, that although there are 500 recipients, I have only sent 1 e-mail. Therefore if PDF attachment is 1 mb, then that is my upload for that e-mail, not 500 mb. As my monthly allowance is only 200 mb, and I have sent a few issues out, this would seem to be confirmed.

Thank you for your help, I will certainly look at the code you provided, and alter as required.

I have checked with ISP. 500 recipents in bcc is only one message.

      Thanks John,
but I think that this would create 500 e-mails ALL with an attachment. I would blow my monthly ISP allowance in one fowl swoop. Can anyone sugest how I might do this with code?

      Thanks Tony,

      Ya Right Steve,
I guess I was looking for the lazy one-click method. Probably our Aussie lay-back culture at work here.

      Thanks Hans,
Was actually hoping I had done something wrong. It would be nice to have ALL ranges listed. I have downloaded a Utility from http://www.robbo.com.au/%5B/url%5D which will list the Dynamic Ranges. This may be useful to others.

Perhaps that nice Mr Gates will read this and consider it for a future release.
