Try changing the Layout to In Front of Text. (Double-click the border of the object/Layout/In Front of Text).

Believe it or not, there are still those who would like to be able to control their line breaks manually. Some believe it is easier to proof read their text if it looks exactly like the copy they are typing from.

Actually, I have no choice about this matter. We have tons of files that we are referring to frequently and this is how they want it done. It doesn’t seem to matter at what pace I open the files–one at a time–two or three–or twenty! I’m going to try saving the ones I can as a workspace and see if that helps.

Ohmigosh!! I just figured it out!! My keyboard has a mail button at the very, very top. When I move my keyboard tray, it hits the top of my desk and pushes that little button and opens up Outlook! Man, is my face red!

Thanks, everybody, for reading and trying to help me figure this one out!!

Unfortunately, Internet Explorer is crashing everytime I type an address in the URL, so I haven’t been using it much. I did disable everything that wasn’t Microsoft, though, and that didn’t do any good. My assumption is that it does have something to do with IE. I’m about to go ahead and reinstall Outlook, but am unable to update IE unless I can get to Microsoft’s update site with IE. Anyway, thanks for the info. I thought some weird new undetectable virus might be making the rounds!

Yes, I have checked the printer’s properties box. I don’t have that option. The attached screen shot shows all I have.

This helps and it truly is a wonderful and beautiful thing, but, is there any way to get the apply filter icon ON the form itself instead of using the toolbar?

Geez! I love this list!! Thanks for your help. It worked like a champ!!

Yea!! That worked! I cannot, however, understand how to do the DMAX function. In your instructins, you said lngNewJobNumber as Long. Is this supposed to be the JobNumber field that I already have or is this for a new field? I’m sorry, I’m really having a hard time with this. Thanks so much for your help!

    • in reply to: Custom AutoNumber (Access 2003) #939129

Okay, we’re getting there (I think). I need to go change all my job and subjob fields to numbers, but that’s okay. Only they have to be 4 digits with leading zeros (i.e., number 14 has to show up as 0014). Can I do that with a number field? If so, how?

    • in reply to: Custom AutoNumber (Access 2003) #938873

I have one table with Job, Subjob, Product fields that are combined to make a composite primary key field.
Problem 1 — I have widget with job #123 (automatically generates a subjob #1). I need to create a new widget # (this would be widget number 124). This would automatically create a subjob #1 for Job 124.
Problem 2 — I also have a whatsit #1701 (with subjob #1). I need to create a new whatsit (this would be whatsit #1702, with a new subjob #1)
      Problem 3 — I have a widget #123, with a subjob #1, but I want to give add a subjob #2.
When the user goes to add a new widget, I want to automatically create a new job number and a new subjob number. When the user goes to add a new whatsit, I need a new job number for the whatsit with a new subjob #1. And on and on. So, the user will have to filter for the Product and the jub number before they add a new subjob OR filter for the product name before they add a new job number.

In the example you gave me, I’m not sure where to add the information.

      K. Looks like everything’s working now. Thanks so much for all the help! I’m running AVG, NIS, and PopUp Blocker! Hope this helps.

This is a brand new clean install of Windows 2000-no service pack. I’m attempting to download whatever service pack is available when I do Update Windows. I have no firewall.
