Point taken. blush Patience is not always a virtue. This little “feature” from MS can be annoying if it kicks in when you don’t want or aren’t expecting “help” with your decision making processes. grin

Go to Insert / Picture / From File and dig out the picture you want and click on the “Insert” button. After you’ve saved the document, the next time you open the document it will default to the correct “View” to display the document with the picture.

I think you’ll find that it works if you hold the cursor over the “+” sign or the file.

The duplicate folders on seperate disks is normal. The file has been divided, but is still intact. To be certain that you have no problems when copying the data back to your hard disk, copy from the disks in the same order you copied to them. It should be fine either way, but it’s best to be safe. One other thing, “Copy” the data back don’t “Move” it. That way, if there’s a problem during the data transfer you won’t lose anything to cyberspace.

Thanks Leif. I was pretty sure it was an issue with the architecture.
Once again, the lounge comes through !!! clapping

    • in reply to: 16bit vs. 32bit #565860

Thanks for the reply. I tried changing the resolution on an old 133 Pentium system running Windows 98 and then opened the file at 640 x 480 without a problem. The file also printed OK on that machine using an older HP printer. Since this issue is with both the screen image and the printout of the file it would seem to indicate a file architecture incompatability rather than a difference in the display resolution or a printer driver issue.
Any further thoughts would be welcomed.

Thanks for the input but that only addresses the Print issue and not the Display issue. The files display off the slide and the printout is clipped off at the point where the file leaves the slide.

      Added url code

Check out this ZD Download site

It’s a free utility called TreePrint that should do just what you’re tryin’ to do. I use it to create content lists for backup disks and collections (pictures, MP3s, etc).

Thanks for taking the time. When it comes to MS products very little surprises me anymore !!! I’m open to suggestions on this one. I’d really rather not have to print this job for the teachers. crazy

I’ve moved the file here at home between 3 desktops with 3 different printers with no problems. The only real variable seems to be the 16bit OS on their systems. Also, can’t imagine that the printer drivers would affect the way the file displays on screen.

Always wary after installing anything, but there’s always “GoBack”. Thanks.

Sad but true, some of the best thoughts and ideas never make it into practical application.

    • in reply to: Need ntkern.vxd file. #562237

Thanks for the reply. I tried finding the file on the Windows 95 disk using Win 98’s System File Checker and came up empty, but I used the whole extension .vxd and not the .vx_ that you suggested. I did find a copy on the Windows 98 disk though. Gonna try that tonight. Hope the version is the same or at least compatible. We’ll see.
      Thanks again.

    • in reply to: Updating oleaut32.dll file #544694

      Hey Leif,
Would always copy the file to a floppy or zip before foolin’ with it. I’ll fool around with different CD formats using different versions and leaving the file out entirely just to see what happens. The program does allow for copies to the HD for dry runs.
Thanks again for the input. bow

    • in reply to: Updating oleaut32.dll file #544678

      Leif,
Thanks for the info. I had a hunch that the only way to do this was with DOS. Having only been an educated computer user since Windows 95 came on the scene, I tend to shy away from DOS stuff. Should I delete or rename or move the old version of the file before I attempt to insert the new version?? Or just overwrite the old version with the new?
Solution #1 won’t work in this situation because there is already a copy of oleaut32.dll on the CD where the program resides and runs from. Do you think if I substituted the older version of the file for the one I burn on the CD that it would work in all systems or perhaps only in the system with the older version installed ?? This is a little freeware slideshow program that allows you to add images and MP3 files to a CD along with a few other files to create a personalized SlideShow presentation to share for business or personal use. You can check it out here http://hjem.get2.net.dk/lpj/ . This particular machine is the only one I can’t share the CDs with and the version conflict seems to be the issue.
      Again, thanks for the input.
