You answered my question perfectly. I tried several options, but the ‘&’ between the path name and filename I would never have found on my own. Many thanks.

Hello again. Sorry to not have thought ahead and asked this one at the same time. I need to save to a particular folder, in this case a shared folder on the server. How can I adapt the code to save to a named folder, which will always be the same, as well as pick up the filename from the range?

      Thanks in advance

Thanks Hans, just the help I needed.
The filename is, being of the form ‘2005 Workbook AB9876’ which works as a filename when saving by hand.

Thanks to both of you. It is as I had feared – I will have to work around using two cols and the =roman() function. Another one for the wishlist!

I create my document and include headers and footers along with any other fixed content, then ‘save as…’ and choose save as template. when I create a new doc based on that template, it opens with all the content including headers. I am using Word 2000 but it should work with all versions.

December 14, 2004 at 11:04 am in reply to: Banish folders for ‘_files’ (WinXP Pro) #912599

I did have a go at setting the properties of the folder to ‘hidden’ but this just showed up as greyed out icon. Your internet explorer option may not affect the desktop, or windows opened via ‘my documents’ etc.

      EDITED TO INCLUDE:-
The trick is to set the Tools>Folder Options>View to indicate ‘do not show hidden files and folders’ which hides the grayed out icon of a hidden folder. You can move the webpage and the hidden folder goes with it. The webpage can find the image file in the hidden folder.

Is there a way to set the folder to ‘hidden’ by default?

Yes – that is the problem. The folder needs to stay associated with it’s web page, so I can’ do anything with it.
I just don’t like them cluttering up my view. (Maybe I will try setting the folder to ‘hidden’ and see what happens…)
