      I was not connecting the true = 1 and false = 0 so could not see how the multiplication worked.

      I get it now!!!!

      When I do that I get the message that you can only copy filtered data to the active worksheet.

      Yes it answers the question, but I do not know how to use the feature and the help is confuising.

      What is the criteria to eliminate duplicate customer names that would be in column A?

      If I start word then it does not open Excel. It is only when I access that one file. Yes I am referring to the status bar.

      I have zipped the file and attached here.

      Hi Phil

      I ran a virus scan, complete with macro virus check. My PC is clean.

      It is not happening with all word documents, just one in particular. If I save that one as something else then the something else is also doing it.

      It is actually opening Excel. As word opens there is text at the bottom left of the screen that scrolls by quite quickly. One of the things is a call to the Excel file that is opening.
