      …
Does anyone know if UPHClean is still required on WS2008.
      …

No, it is not needed. It won’t install, because equivalent functionality is built in to Vista / Server 2008 and later.

February 18, 2010 at 10:31 am in reply to: Install Office Enterprise 2007 over Access 2000 #1209879

Back in this Post John had 2007 and 2003 working together on the same machine.

No – he had Access 2000, exactly the same as in this topic.
So why is this a double-posted new topic?

The answer to the OP’s question is select “Custom” in setup. There’s no difference that I’ve found between Enterprise setup and any other edition setup.

For Microsoft’s take on the matter, see Earlier versions of Office are removed when you run the 2007 Office Setup program

February 18, 2010 at 1:23 am in reply to: SBS 2003 Remote Desktop Issue #1209747

Did the client accept the default “Install updates and restart” option when they restarted the server?

I have seen multiple times that you have to restart SBS 2003 twice after installing (some) windows updates in order to restore RDP connections.

I call it the Grey Screen of Death — there is nothing in the event logs, but the only symptom I have found is that after the first restart the console screen (locally) shows a plain grey screen, without the logon dialog.

You have to hit C-A-D to get the logon dialog to appear, then login locally and restart for the second time. Then RDP works again.

PS: if you know any other way round this, I would very much like to know.

Even when you have succeeded with multiple Access installations, you may run into problems. See Errors using multiple versions of Access under Vista/Windows 7 for some solutions.

Also there is some useful information at the Office Access 2007 in mixed environments section of Migration considerations for Access 2007.

February 18, 2010 at 12:51 am in reply to: Install Office Enterprise 2007 over Access 2000 #1209744

Have you tried following the instructions in Information about using 2007 Office suites and programs on a computer that is running another version of Office?

Also, don’t forget to modify the shortcuts on your menu, after installation. Without this modification you won’t be able to use Access 2000 from the start menu, even if it was not uninstalled. Full details are given in the above Microsoft KB article.

February 18, 2010 at 12:35 am in reply to: How to remove the “Welcome to Office 2007” #1209743

      …

I have tried the customization tool that is available with the volume license CD but the ShowOptIn setting they talk about is not there.

I set the ShowOptin Registry setting but that didn’t do anything.

I can not find any setting in the gpedit.msc

      Any Suggestions?

      …

If you are having difficulties it’s probably because you are still using the original volume license CD

The original volume license CD contains errors in the ADM / ADMX and in the Office Customisation Tool.
To fix this, you have to update the install share built from the CD.

Go to How to prevent the “Welcome to the 2007 Microsoft Office system” dialog box from opening when a 2007 Office suite is started for the first time

      1. Download the AdminTemplates.exe from the link given in the above article
      2. Extract the files as instructed in the above article
      3. Replace the files in the “Admin” folder of your installation share on the server
      4. Run the Office Customisation Tool
