AskWoody PlusThanks for taking the time to try to resolve this.
#1 was already selected. Tried unselecting, closing Word, reopening and reselecting the copy remotely stored files.#2 Private individual, but not sure what AD SF is.
#3 No change with Word in Safe mode
#4 Removed Malwarebytes browser protection and turned off Windows security. Issue persists.
#5 Word wouldn’t run with Windows in Safe Mode.ย (license could not be verified).
I really appreciate your help, but at this point it just may be easier to manually go to the sites directly from Chrome.

AskWoody PlusThanks for your reply.ย Here’s one of the links: https://www.viobank.com/
I created a new Word document and pasted the link and the same thing happens.ย Opens instantly when pasted directly into Chrome. Hmm…

AskWoody PlusThanks for your suggestions. The external monitor doesn’t display until I’m in Windows so when I try to reboot to get to recovery mode I just have the flashing gray screen on the laptop.

AskWoody PlusIt is a retail version.ย Should I uninstall components/drivers from Dev Mgr before moving the drive?

AskWoody PlusSo are you saying that with EasyBCD I’ll be able to choose to boot from the old drive even though it will still have all the settings and drivers from my old computer?

AskWoody PlusThanks guys. Still stuck. Uninstalled AVG and removed all traces with AVG removal tool. Still not able to boot to desktop in normal mode unless UAC us turned off. Restore points all say restore unsuccessful even from safe mode. Anybody know how I can fix explorer.exe with UAC on without having to format and reinstall? Thanks in advance!

AskWoody PlusAll restore points fail. But… while in Safe Mode turned off UAC (User Account Control) and the system booted fine into normal mode. Can anybody tell me what I need to do to fix UAC so I can turn it back on without running into the Explorer.exe application error on startup? Thanks in advance for you help!

AskWoody PlusThanks for your reply. The only choices seem to be Outlook Express or “use my current email program” I might be missing something, but I’m not using an email program, I use webmail.

Thanks anyway, Joe. I resolved it with the following from Dell: clicky

AskWoody PlusYeah I know about reinstalling software first. But I’ve been through that route several times. I thought the fact that the Add Printer Wizard doesn’t start whether or not anything is connected might be a clue. Anyway unless you’ve got some file corruption (already tried replacing spoolsv.exe) or registry fix in mind, I guess I’ll just reformat and reinstall.

AskWoody PlusUsed Add Remove Programs and HP’s Remove Tool. When connect to USB the model is detected but the installation doesn’t complete to add to printers and faxes control panel. There are no printers in the control panel and when you click on Add Printer, the wizard doesn’t start (nothing happens).

AskWoody PlusThanks. Since my post I realized that the mp3 files were on another workstation in the network. Is there a way to get that meta info to show on network folders?

AskWoody PlusThanks Phil I followed along the steps for MSQuery and was able to use the Query Wizard to filter the data specifying Contains A, but when I get to the last step which has a radio button selected as “Return Data to MS Word” and click the Finish Button, I get a message: “Word was unable to open the data source.” When I choose the other radio button which is View Data or Edit Query in MS Query and click the Finish button, I see a table with the correctly filtered records, but the only place from there that I could see to get it to merge with word was a choice under the file menu, “Return Data to MS Word” I get the same message: “Word was unable to open the data source.” Thanks again, J
