      Hi Leif,

thanks — meantime, I also found and applied the Network solution (even though it’s a standalone computer — that fooled me),
and it worked like a charm.

      Best,

      Thank you, Joe.
      — is sharing only possible by putting the folder into “Shared Documents”?

      Hi Hans,

thanks a lot for the work-around. cheers
Still I think a lot of indexers would be helped with a “real solution” smile .
I was just thinking this might involve replacing the Word-native “Mark-all” routine
with one’s own VBA routine, in which paragraphs or sections that are marked
      as, say, “NoProofing” are skipped.
Sounds like a nice little project for VBA 101 smile.

Hi — thanks for your input. I don’t think I ever had that small dialogue you refer to: FP just does its job, and afterwards the PDF file(s) are the old ones, although the new files are on the local web.

The whole web is many hundreds of files; perhaps the “Publish all” is still feasible since it runs happily in the background (although sometimes it gets updated a dozen times a day). I’ll try that, and see how it works: thanks for your suggestion.

Thank you – the people in charge discourage the use of FTP (for security reasons?!), but I’ll check out the Neighborhood program. One would have hoped the solution to be in FP itself. Perhaps this was one of the reasons for the upgrade.

Hi — thanks. This option may not have been there in FP2000. Attached are the Options in FP 2000, and there is nothing like this under the Publish Web Options either.
I’ll sure try to look for it further.

    • in reply to: Paste formatting removed (97 under Win 95) #544354

      about Paste Special… Unformatted Text

I put a button next to the normal Paste button which calls the following:

      Selection.PasteSpecial Link:=False, DataType:=wdPasteText, Placement:= _
      wdInLine, DisplayAsIcon:=False

Works great, saves loads of clicks

or use the field codes (Insert ==> Field ==> Equations and Formulas, e.g. the EQ field name), which has a lot of associated Help. This will be OK for a run-off-the-mill integer.

    • in reply to: Same footnotes (2000) #538094

      Hi Patrick,

I think you want to use a cross-reference for this (Insert ==> Cross-Reference; Reference type: Footnote; insert as hyperlink).

    • in reply to: Web Accessories (5-6) #536526

Hi Leif — thanks. Yes, IE 5.

No, I was referring explicitly to the right-click web search facility that becomes available by installing the Web Accessories mentioned above
      see http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/IE/WebAccess/ie5tools.asp

The WA web search facility there gives you Yahoo (while the “Search” in the Status Bar gives you [or me smile] Altavista).

This is neat indeed. Thanks for pointing it out. One question:

      MS writes:
      . Web Search
Here’s another tool for searching faster than ever. With this Web Accessory you can select keywords on a Web page, right-click, and choose Web Search. Your selected words go directly to a default search engine.

Does anyone know how to set the default search engine (program’s default is Yahoo)?

    • in reply to: Fonts (2000) #534269

      Hi —

      > Has your friend got Algerian on his machine? If not, use Times New Roman (or you could always email him the .ttf, or upload it to your webspace and > let him get it). I have a similar problem with Zapf Chancellor, so I make it available to browsers.

when you say, “make it available to browsers” do you mean to say, “include a link with a copy for download”?
or can the absence of fonts from a receiving machine that you need to display your page correctly (e.g. specialised fonts) be handled in another way, so that a when a user hits on your page he automatically gets a (temporary) copy of the right font?
