Outlook always wants to send via the “default” email account, unless replying to an incoming msg in which case it uses the same account the msg was received on by default.

However, before sending you can use a dropdown list called ‘accounts’ at the top of the msg with enables you to choose which account to use for sending. This only appears if there it more than one account defined with sending enabled. (Terminology/location may be slightly different in OL2007, but it is near the send button)

Oh, I see. Yes, that is true – never a problem for me because I just change it to .jpg using Irfanview.

      Thanks for clarifying.

Glad you’ve got this solved, but I was just wondering what version of Outlook you are using?

I use OL XP (2002) and in this version all I do is right click on the image, click on “save picture as” and save the image. Does this not work in your version?

Just curious if this is another lost feature in later OL versions.

    • in reply to: Accepting an invalid certificate #1189570

      Hi Stuart

Not sure about this, but a couple of thoughts:

      – There should be no problem accepting an invalid security certificate on a configuration web page embedded in a printer on your local network, as it seems to be based on your ip address starting with 192.168

      – Firefox should be giving you a button allowing you to add an exception. Once you do that it will no longer bug you about connecting to that IP.

      – It is unusual to have to use a secure connection to a web page on a local network device; presumably you are connecting to https://192.168.1.27? What happens if you connect via http:// rather than https:// (ie non-secure connection)?

Can you open the .dbf file in Excel or OpenOffice Calc?
If so, then save it as a csv or tab delimited file and import that into Access.
If not, and you have access to VFP, then you should be able to export it from VFP as a delimited (CSV) file.

Sorry I don’t use VFP myself, but routinely convert dbase, clipper and harbour .dbf files and I believe VFP is similar.

      OR, the real easy way:

start / run and type in:
      cmd /c “dir c:directorysubdir > dir.txt & notepad dir.txt”
      hit enter

Which will open a directory listing of c:directorysubdir in notepad.
You can also use the /o parameters on dir to sort by name, size, date or whatever and the /b option to just get a list of file names.

      DOS lives!

    • in reply to: Hotmail with Outlook 2003? #1188136

You can access both hotmail and gmail accounts as pop3/smtp accounts in outlook. For some reason this is a little-known fact, but I have one of each myself running in Outlook 2K2 and in Thunderbird.

These settings are for Outlook 2002, but 2003 and 2007 terminology is very similar.

      Settings for hotmail:

      Your information:
      Your name: whatever you want
Email address: your hotmail email address
      Login information:
User name: your hotmail email address
      Password: your hotmail password
      Incoming mail server: pop3.live.com
      Outgoing mail server: smtp.live.com
      More settings button:
      Outgoing server tab:
      My server requires authentication checked
Use same settings as incoming mail server radio button
      Advanced tab:
      Incoming server pop3 port: 995
Check in “This server requires an SSL secured Connection”
      Outgoing server smtp port: 25
Check in “This server requires an SSL secured Connection”
(Note, if your isp blocks port 25 you cannot send. Try port 465)

      Settings for gmail:

      Your information:
      Your name: whatever you want
Email address: your gmail email address
      Logon information:
      User name: your gmail address
      Password: your gmail password
      Incoming mail server: pop.gmail.com
      Outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com
      More settings button
      Outgoing server tab
Check in My outgoing server requires authentication
Radio button enabled for “Use same settings as my incoming mail server”
      Advanced tab:
      Incoming server POP3 port: 995
Check in “This server requires an SSL secured Connection”
      Outgoing server SMTP port:465
Check in “This server requires an SSL secured connection.

The nice this about this is it doen’t preclude using the webmail interface as well, and in the case of gmail the messages don’t get deleted from the server. Also I have found the gmail pop/smtp service has stayed up even during their periodic webmail outages.
