I had the same trouble with a Gateway computer. Problem was the DVD part of the drive had gone bad. Replacing the drive fixed the issue.

I would try replacing the drive before reinstalling Windows.

If you mean a Shortcut to the Lounge do this:

Open the page on the Lounge you want displayed when you click on the shortcut. Copy the URL. Right click on an empty spot on the desktop and select New > Shortcut. Paste the URL in the box beside Browse and click Next. Type in the name of your choice and click Finish. A new Shortcut should now appear on your desktop.

Check Device Manager and see if the onboard Network Adapter is disabled. If not, disable it.

If you are connected wireless the icon you are seeing is most likely for the wired connection. To disable it go to Control Panel > Notification Area Icons. Click on the down arrow beside Network and select Hide icon and notifications.

I have no idea if this will correct the problem with Secunia.

      cafed00d,

Best I can determine makes no difference if 32 or 64 bit.

As you stated, the sound card can make a difference. I have Realtek on board sound.

Audacity should do what you want. If you decide to try it be sure to download the Beta 1.3.12 version.

You will also need the Lame Encoder. Follow the instructions for All Users.

Lastly enable Stereo Mix in Control Panel > Sound > Recording. If you don’t see Stereo Mix right click on an empty spot and check Show Disabled Devices.

Sounds as though the firewall may still be a problem. I don’t use Outpost so you may have to look for the settings to allow your network adapter.

Here is a shot of what the settings look like in Zone Alarm.

Another option if you only want it used for backup is to install the hard drive in an enclosure and use it as an external hard drive. Here are some from Tiger Direct.

See if this from the How-To Geek helps. I think the only option is to change the settings to retain the latest image. Scroll down the page for the instructions for managing the system image size.

The answer seems to be dependent on the manufacturer of the laptop. Google toggle off numbers (your brand)

Try Nitro PDF Software. It’s free so you’re not out anything if it doesn’t work. Scroll down for the PDF to Excel converter.

Start by turning off “Homegroup” on the Win 7 machines. Homegroup will not work with XP. See if any of the suggestions by the How-To Geek will help.

Try the System Restore in Safe Mode. I, like you have never had good results using System Restore. Usually though, it will work in Safe Mode.
