Funny thing. I thought about doing that. But then I thought “do I really want to go through all that again?” … I tried pushing the “reset” button on the back, but that didn’t seem to do anything. … I’ll go in and do a reset to default settings, and see what happens. … Thanks Gerald.

Did you hold the reset button for at least 15 – 20 seconds? If so, and the router didn’t reset, it may have gone south.

See if this from the How-To Geek will help. Worked for me.

The firewalls may be the problem. I don’t use Norton or McAfee so can’t help with the settings. Try disabling the firewalls on both machines temporarily and see if it will work.

If no one can help with the Sound Forge Audio software you might give Audacity a shot. It’s free and works like a champ.

My on-board network adapter recently went bad on my Win 7 machine and I replaced it with a Linksys 10/100 EtherFast PCI Adapter Model No.:LNE100TX. The Linksys card works just lovely and haven’t had any problems with my laptop loosing its wireless connection.

Had to use the install CD that came with the card for the driver as Win 7 didn’t already have the driver preloaded.

Try running System Restore in Safe Mode. Often times all the running programs will prevent System Restore from working.

The above assume that both systems are running Windows 7.

It also works should work if the machine you are trying to network the printer to is running XP.

Works for me using Win 7 and IE. However, using XP prompts me to download Shockwave Flash Object. When I click on Save, I get “Cannot download screen sfw from http://www.aclu.org try later. Strange it would get the add-on from the ACLU.

      Works fine using FF though.

Take a look at the port on the computer and see if any pins are bent or missing. Should be 8 pins.

      Ted,

I’m using a Maxtor STM307504OTA3E1-RK OneTouch 4 Lite 750GB External Hard Drive – USB 2.0. I didn’t use the Maxtor software, just the Microsoft backup program in Win 7. I use this external hard drive for backups on five computers. Also backup the contents of Documents, Music, Pictures, etc. Just for safety in case the 750 fails I also do additional image backups to a Maxtor One Touch 4 Mini, as described by Hey Jude. The Maxtor One Touch 4 Mini ran out of space so that’s when I purchased the Maxtor OneTouch 4 Lite 750GB and now use it for my primary backups. Haven’t had any trouble with either of these drives being recognized by Windows.

A happy and propserous 2010, colleagues all,

I know that Audacity is receiving the signal becaise i can see the waveform and record it. I can play around with the file using the other products. My problem is that at no point can I set it up so that I can hear the music while I am saving or editing.

Try the suggestions Hey Jude made. Click here for a screen shot.

    • in reply to: Zone Alarm free or Windows 7 Firewall? #1194937

Could be the TvDebug log file for Zone Alarm. I had a similar problem and this seemed to help. Click here for the information. The article refers to ZA Pro but it works for the free version as well. Use the fix in the second paragraph posted by tork.

If you want to look at the log file before and after enter C:WINDOWSInternet Logs in the search bar. Click on Internet Logs and look for tvDebug. After you turn off the debug file you will need to restart.

    • in reply to: Windows 7 image backup #1194842

Reading this thread reminded me I needed to do a system image. Have added several programs since the last image. My actual usage on the HD is 25.89GB. Just finished an image backup and the wizard estimated 26GB would be needed. The actual image was 14GB. That is about 54% of the estimate. BTW, the image was saved to an external hard drive.

Your figures indicate your actual image is about 31% of the estimate. Considerably different than my image percentages but the type of programs installed might make a difference.

I would avoid this site. Web of Trust gives it a poor rating. All links in a Google search indicate RED.
