Perhaps you can check the autocorrect settings. In my version of Outlook 2010, I click on the File tab (upper left corner), then click on Mail, then in the next window, click on the Spelling and Autocorrect button, next window click on the Autocorrect Options button. In the window that opens, you should see a table with items to be replaced, and next to them what to replace it with. If you scroll down the list of items to replace, hopefully you’ll find don’t, won’t, etc., and I’m thinking it’s set to replace it with the erroneous fix, like don’to. If that’s not it, perhaps “apostrophe t” is set to be replaced with “apostrophe to” or something odd. Hope that helps.

      Oldn,

Although I rarely use IE, I have customers that have had issues with IE that are similiar to your problem. YMMV, but try this on the malfunctioning computer:

If Compatibility View is enabled, disable it. If it’s disabled, enable it.

      Good Luck!

After reading Jan’s suggestion to select Grammar and style, I discovered more settings to allow fine grain grammar checking.

After clicking Proofing, right next to where the selection for Writing Style is displayed, there’s a button for Settings. Clicking on it allows the user to select or deselect numerous options, including one for Possessives and plurals. There’s also a selection for one of my pet peeves, split infinitives! 😮

I used IOLO’s System Mechanic years ago and had major problems with it. Luckily I was able to repair the “repairs” it made to my system. Thinking maybe the program was better and worth a shot (since I trust WinSec’s reviews), I headed over to Amazon since it was mentioned in the article. I’ve never seen a larger collection of one star reviews and angry users. Several of the reviews were obviously written by competent users with plenty of computer savvy. I also checked to see what version they were reviewing, and it was the latest version. I’ll pass on this one, and I’m afraid I won’t be trusting reviews by WinSec in the future. =(
