Thanks for the advice – unfortunately that doesn’t work either. Looks like a fresh install of OL. Not a high priority as there is no problem with running macros in the other office products. Just frustrating! brickwall bummer

Same problem – Microsoft Office Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to restart. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Thanks for the response. I can’t get to any macros at all – I just crash out with the ‘encountered problem’ dialog.

I looked ‘everywhere’ for VbaProject and *.otm, but came up with a blank (even with search for hidden files turned on.

This is the first time (I think!) that I have tried to use macros in Outlook, but the same technique works fine in Access, Word, and Excel – no crashes.

I forgot to mention that I have SP2 on XP as well – not sure if that makes any difference …

      Thanks.

Yep, the revisions collection is read-only brickwall sad, so the only way to do this would appear to be the .rtf/notepad route, unless I want to do a major automation project – which I don’t right now!

Ah, well, thanks for the input!

Thanks – that gives me an idea for some code that might work, although I see in the Word 2003 Help file that the revision marks collection may be read-only, which would mean that it wouldn’t work.

BTW, in this case the macro technique won’t work, because the client may want to read either the ‘clean’ view, or the marked changes view.

Many thanks for the fast response – the second option seems to be most workable – I will test it tomorrow.

The first is not workable, because I neglected to mention that these documents contain references, and compare documents shows a single change in the references as a change to the entire reference list (I guess because the reference list is actually a field from the reference management software). However, if we ever have documents without such lists, it might work!

Wow, it’s so easy when explained like that! Why can’t Microsoft make it that easy? grin

Now I know how to make the report look like something that was put together manually in Word, and it is an instantaneous (and accurate) update of what is in the database. Very cool.

      Thanks again!

      Dear Hans,

Thanks for the prompt response. Unfortunately, some of the countries do have null values on the subreports.

The master report has a single field in the data source (I have tried adding ‘useful’ fields, but then get multiple ‘records’ on the report). The subreports are then linked to the master report on this field. I have tried looking at DCount, but have not been able to get this to work, yet (more homework!).

If this is not enough information to help you guide me to a solution, please let me know what you need (the database is too complex to easily reduce to something that I could post).

      Thanks,
