    • in reply to: Query records that fall within a date range (2000 SR-1) #797749

Thanks for the help so far.

Can anyone advise me on the next stage of this little report. I have been asked to create a report that formats
the results of the former query into a table structure such as that shown below:

      Part Number 2MonthsAgo 1MonthsAgo ThisMonth 1MonthsAway 2MonthsAway
      828222 Sample Launch
      548771 Sample Launch

Basically, for each record returned in the query, tabulate it such that the SampleDate interval is shown as a word “SAMPLE”
under the appropriate column and the LaunchDate interval is shown as a word “LAUNCH” under the appropriate column. I
hope that is clear. Essentially it might be compared loosely to a Gantt Chart.

I was imagining a case statement for each record returned in which the appropriate textbox, in the report detail would contain
the associated keyword under the appropriate date column. So far I’ve constructed a report that has a row of unbound
textboxes for the records and the header that are associated with the appropriate interval from DATE(). That being, 2 months
ago, 1 month ago, now, 1 month away, etc.

Any advise you can provide would be most helpful!!

The date fields as well as the checkbox are all on the same form. A user may call up the form to make an update to a date field (when a particular step is complete) and if that is the last date to be completed, then the checkbox, labelled “Active”, should toggle to NO (cleared). If any of the date fields in question are still empty, the checkbox should be left alone. The default value for the checkbox in new records is YES as defined in the table behind this form. Basically, this checkbox should only ever toggle off when the last date gets entered in the form.

I was not the original developer of this database but I have since acquired the responsibility to maintain it since the original author, a co-op student, is no longer with our company.

Thanks in advance for your help,

    • in reply to: Mathematical Calculation puzzle? (Excel – ANY) #755033

Hi!! Thanks for the help!! You know, I copied the data into an Excel worksheet, began testing it and it didn’t come out right. I looked it over step by step figuring, “Something must be wrong, but where. Hmmmm..” So, when i reviewed the last formula (AreaRectangle) I realized there was an error. I corrected my worksheet and all worked well. So, I thought I’d come on here and let you know there was a minor error, and LO-and-BEHOLD, you ALREADY CORRECTED IT!!!

Thanks for following up!! I appreciate the help!! And thanks for forcing me to walk through it rather than simply taking it for granted. I am better off for it.

When I tried resetting the toolbar, I did indeed get back the Macro Security option and was able to change the security level. HOWEVER, by doing so, I had LOST all my custom menus!!! Aaarrrggghh!. I hadn’t really expected that. My custom toolbars were still there, but my menu with the 25 entries in it were blown away. Needless to say, it was a bittersweet victory. I got the security setting available but lost my custom work. Hmmmm. I’ll be a little more cautious next time. Of course, I suppose I could have made the change to my security setting and then reinstated a backup of my personal.xls, but I hadn’t thought of THAT!! Duh.

Thanks for you help. It is most appreciated.

Thanks HansV, but when I checked, there still seemed to be only the one copy of personal.xls around (I had removed the alternate versions I had). So, since that had no effect, I tried your next suggestion.

Thanks too for your comment. I did end up finding this utility, but it seems to crash intermittently on me. Not sure if I can fix it.

Thanks for the input. I did end up trying SlipStick for some help and I found a utility that was suggested: Outlook Duplicate Remover. I tried it and had limited success. It keeps crashing during my efforts, but not until I get at least some duplicates removed. At that rate, however, it would take me at least three hours to complete the task!! Oh well. I also tried a shareware version of a utility that helped, but is limited to 20 duplicates at a time! That too would take too long. I figure I would only need to do this once or twice a year, so I’d rather find a FREE solution.

    • Thanks for your help. That was just what I needed to get started. I did have some problems in running your sample doc, but it was security related. I finally figured it out.

      Thanks again!!

    • in reply to: Why is Postscript the intermediate step to a PDF? #675291

Just an after thought to this thread. If you are looking for a CHEAP way to produce PDF files from any Windows application, try PDF Print Factory (US$49.95) or PDF Print Factory Pro (US$99.95) from http://www.fineprint.com. I found them to work flawlessly!! I can produce a perfect PDF file from within any Office program or AutoCAD, or any other Windows based program. It simply works like a printer driver, similar to Acrobat, but for a LOT less money. Mind you, Acrobat provides a lot of editing features to make changes to existing PDF files that the aforementioned programs do not, but if all you’re interested in is producing PDFs (even encrypted ones with PDF PrintFactory Pro), then they’ll work fine. BTW, they have free trial downloads so you can test them yourself.
