I was afraid of that. I assume Diskeeper needs to be run as Admin?
Is there a utility I can run that demonstrates how badly fragmented the disk is? (For use as proof to present to our help desk in asking for defrag help).

      Thanks.

      Thanks much.

I just tried the send-later and it worked for me. I guess I’ve never used it because if I’m not ready to send something I just save it to Draft. And when I’m ready to send, I just send it (I’m online 24×7).

In my case unplugging and replugging the USB connection to the disk drive seems to clear up the problem so I’m guessing it’s a USB or HD driver issue…

I use NS 6.1 as my primary mailer. I used to use Netscape 4.something but have been on 6.x for close to a year now. I didn’t consider going back to the 4.x version I had because it didn’t allow me to have multiple mail boxes. Also most of the concerns you list haven’t affected me. I don’t use “send later,” spell check, the address book and the “ding” doesn’t bother me. Every once in a while, the mailbox has frozen, not allowing me to delete or move mail but removing the mail summary file that holds config information and restarting has fixed that so far. And the mail editor which sort of operates in a hidden html mode can take a little getting used to at first.

I have literally received a half-dozen Badtrans and other worms within the last couple of weeks — I actually got attacked by Aliz within 48 hours of its initial detection. Each time I see these critters, I pat myself on the back for not using Outlook. smile Yes, I know precautions can be taken with Outlook but it’s a lot easier if I’m not using the targeted software at all!

This is very possible and maybe even the likely source of the problem.
There are various macro-enhanced spreadsheets floating around here.

I don’t think it was deliberately done because the Undo was partially working. It would undo text while the cursor was still in the cell where the typing took place. Just another weird footnote to the workings of the Office suite of software. I don’t remember now if I tried using Undo from the menu. Maybe not.

There’s not that many Netscape experts here. Your best bet is to ask your question in alt.netscape or netscape.public.general (see http://groups.google.com/).

Just for posterity’s sake I thought I’d let you know that this problem got solved and how. Somebody at our company’s tech support actually knew the trick. What they did was: Open up the customize toolbar dialog, drag the Undo button from the existing toolbar to remove it, then place the button back on the toolbar by dragging it from the dialog. That fixed the problem. Somehow the button had lost full functionality. As to why… I have no idea. I imagine reinstalling Excel would have fixed it too…

    • in reply to: Undo not working (97 SR-2) #541255

FYI, neither of these suggestions helped. There was only one file in my XLStart directory (mscreate.dir) but removing it didn’t seem to have any effect. And /regserver seems to have no effect as well. Haven’t tried the reinstall solution yet…

      Thanks for trying.

It happens in new files too.

Hard drive probably has not been cleaned in a long while. I don’t know for sure because I just inherited this machine. There is over 1 GB free, though. I’ll send for the instructions since it can probably use a good cleaning in any case.

OS, by the way, is NT 4.0 1381. I don’t have full access to the machine so I’m wondering if it could be some sort of file systems permissions problem.

      Thanks.

I believe the read-receipt header is:

      Return-Receipt-To:

At least, that’s what shows up my mailbox from people
I know running Outlook who are requesting return receipts.

    • in reply to: importing web site #520404

      Not that I’ve seen unless there’s a screen I haven’t seen.
All I’ve been using is the import wizard which doesn’t
give you too many choices (number of levels, restrict
total bytes, restrict to text/image only).

      Thanks.

    • in reply to: importing web site #520402

Well I’m talking about the FP import wizard. Scenario is:

      1) have FP web on my PC and published to server
      2) may make some html edits directly on server
      3) want to get my PC copy up to date so use import
      wizard to import from Internet

The problem is FP will try to pull the entire web
including images when all I really want is the html.
There’s an “import only text and images” check-box
but what I really want is to import only text.

The ftp tool looks useful but I was wondering if FP has
      something built-in that I’m missing.

      Thanks.

    • in reply to: Image mapping? #1780739

BTW, I found out this week that the image maps are generated using the key word “POLYGON” which is not compatible with the HTML specification (even though IE and NS understand it).
I would do a search and replace in HTML mode and change
all POLYGON to POLY when you’re done defining your map.
Of course it’s also a good idea to validate your HTML at http://www.w3c.org.

p.s. Leif, thanks for the javascript source pointer.
