so this does not sound like a power supply issue.
      pvkid

With my limited knowledge of GPU’s and vid cards in general, I’m just curious why you think it might not be a power problem?

had a look at your power supply?
with that much video load it wouldn’t have to drop much to cause a crash!

That’s what they’re talking about near the end of this thread.

Apparently there were major problems with the 6200 in Vista as well. Nvidea even offered a “fix” for it on their site(forums). I’m running the 6200 with dual monitors without a problem, myself, but it’s on XP. I hope you get it sorted, but it looks like that might mean a new card.

December 16, 2009 at 8:23 am in reply to: IE problem #1191742

I am having a problem when trying to open item such as a map or Google earth.

I keep getting the error message IE has encountered a problem etc.

I tried going to some of the same sites using a different browser such as firefox or Flock and ran into the same thing.

The attachment has a copy of one of the details of the error report I get.

This is anyone’s guess, of course, but I’d lean towards you being infected with a trojan. That’s an Adobe dll that’s suposedly susceptible to Java exploits. Both have been in the news recently because of vulnerabilities. Have you updated Adobe or Java lately? I’d run a malware scan and keep them both updated.

Does this help any? In Windows, how do I force my email client to display mail as text only?

December 13, 2009 at 9:41 pm in reply to: Setting a Windows Maximum Size Permanently #1191149

I’ve read on other forums where people with this problem have had luck using File>Close instead of the red X, as well as CtrlX, ShiftX, ShiftCtrlX, etc. I also read somewhere where Windows has a limit to how many window settings it will remember. I think the article said 100 windows, but I’m not sure about that. It IS a very buggy feature.

I just started using it, so I’m afraid I can’t help you. But, I did see this when I was reading up on it. Don’t know if the advanced issue applies to you or not.

I know I’m a little off topic at this point, but as far as the 32 vs 64 bit debate is concerned, all you have to do is look at the history of computing…4bit to 8bit to 16bit to 32bit and now 64bit. For me, anyway, 64bit’s a no brainer…on a new machine please, Santa!

There’s a numer of things you can try here, but the first thing listed is Riley’s suggestion. Are you sure you didn’t miss that key?

Is Scan Reg available for Windows XP Home with SP3?

Glad you got sorted, Derek. Unless you’re into databases my guess is that you could live without it. As a personal note, I tend to keep everything patched, because you never know when you might need it down the road… .net is a good example.
