Yes Hans, the printer is specified in the macro to assure all forms are printed to the same network printer. This helped us keep the printed form identical by removing the potential for any unique-to-a-printer formatting. To set the printer up I created a macro just to print out on the specified printer, then copied just that macro code into each macro or, used that form as a “template” for the next one.
OK, you peeked my curiosity with an “add-in”. Where can I find out what that is and how to make one ?

      Thanks Hans.

Yes, when I re-boot W2000 re-creates the RECYCLED directories. This is what prompted the original question: How do I keep W2000 from re-creating them.

Hope you’all are having a great T-Giving Day.

      jscher2000,
I’d like to explore the option of opening in OpenOffice. Can you give me the sequence ? I’ve opened the Normal.dot and then opened macros and cannot get to them. Maybe they are in compiled dll’s ???
      Thanks.

    • in reply to: Recycle Bin #986310

      Thanks….but,
Through the command prompt I’ve been able to reset the attributes and remove the RECYCLED folders (directories) on all but the C-drive with no adverse affects on the operating system. My base question is still “How do I keep W2000 from re-creating a RECYCLED directory on hardrives other than the drive where windows is installed ?”

      Thanks jscher2000,
I haven’t configured the Journal so I don’t think its the problem. You hit the nail on the head when you asked about a USB Flash drive. I try to keep critical files on a 256-Meg flash and it really works out well. But as I watch this pst grow I get a little concerned. Again, thanks for your post. If you haven’t already, look at unkamunka’s post. I did the compact thing am now the pst is about 7-Meg.

    • in reply to: Outlook pst file size (2000) #984512

Thanks, that did the trick. I just compacted and am down to almost 7-Meg.
It would be nice if there were a way to automate this function.
      Once again, Thanks unkamunka.

      John,
I haven’t been ignoring you, I guess just too busy/lazy to respond. Thanks. If I do attempt to make a custom form, is there a way to globally import all of the contacts into that form ?

    • in reply to: Attachments and appointments (Outlook 2003) #984299

Before you do this make a back-up copy of the xls file just in case.
Have you tried holding the shift key down while dragging ?

Thanks Leif. I looked at the site in your post and it looks like a better idea. Thanks again. As for the carriage returns, no problem. I’ll let the lounge take care of it. It’s just an old habit.

I was just informed that I have not responded to the solutions to my question.
      Pardon me…no REALLY, PARDON ME.
Thanks. I’ve used combinations of many of these responses successfully.
      Thanks to all.

      Pardon me…no REALLY, PARDON ME.
Thanks. I’ve used a combination of both responses successfully.
Thanks to both Francois & Andrew.

(Edited by HansV to provide linke to post. It’s as easy as [post#=109885] – see Help 19. Also removed superfluous line breaks)

I’m not sure why you want the back-up. My experience with back-ups over writing themselves caused me to seek out another method. FYI, take a look at post 109885 and the responses to that post.

    • in reply to: Word Aufo Format (2000) #950417

I turned those off quite awhile ago, and yes I still get the problem/challenge sporadically.

It’s almost like a long lost friend: I know it will show up I just don’t know when.

    • in reply to: Word Aufo Format (2000) #950405

      Thanks Ian,
. Yes, I did remove the second set also.
. Yes, I strip it down to just the smart quotes also.

Thanks and have a Great Day.
