just wondering if you have the Document Map feature enabled? The document map can be a great tool but it’s a bit buggy especially if it’s enabled with track changes. I’ve seen a lot of instances where Word will crash when the map PLUS track changes are utilized. Cheers, Paddy

Do you have access to a higher version of Word – 2002/2003. I recover many documents this way … unbelievable how many do actually go corrupt. Try “open and repair” just in case it does the job. Couple of other things: If you have a document mgmt system and your MRU list is enabled you might want to disable the MRU list in your normal.dot before trying to open and also clear out tmp files. Was this document created via merge database? If so see article above referenced by Rebel. Cheers,

Hi, Just curious if you ever figured out what was at the bottom of this issue because I have encountered similar issue but it is always when the file has been received via e-mail and kind of figured it was due to ‘cached’ memory. thanks. Paddy

Yes … and Word has a nasty habit of keeping Winword.exe running in the background. Ctrl|Alt|Del will often show two instances of winword.exe running. Closing Word and your Doc Management Program if any resolves. Even a bigger problem if others working in doc as well.

Hi Bob, Was searching the posts for information on problem I ran into and found yours. Did you get a resolution to this issue? Not having seen your document thought I’d offer a comment: I’ve seen this happen frequently when there is too much text in a cell and the user has exceeded the maximum text allowed in a row. The text can be there on screen but goes into ‘obliviion’ and will never print.

Yes, that is very strange. I have 2002 at home and 2003 and 2000 at work. Will test again tomorrow if time permits with 2003. Will repost. BTW my OS at work for Word 2000 is WinNT SP6a and for Word 2003 is WinXP, just in case it may make a diff.

Yes. I just read your post and tried it again with two of our other forms, right click, property set to unlimited. Protected form and made typo which was autocorrected. Do you have SP3?

Was just going to post back – yes! If you unprotect, right click and set properties to unlimited, reprotect and then type autocorrect kicks in.

I’ve been testing this with protected forms: I have Word2000 with SP3: autocorrect does not work at all in protected forms. which is a big nuisance.

Hi Lisa, I have seen this type of re-pagination and FWIW we found that we needed to reset the compatibility options for Word. When we moved from Word97 to Word 2000 we had similar issues but when we cleaned up our templates so that all of the options were set appropriately (to be Word 2000-friendly), after that we had no paper-page-ending surprises. As Phil indicated also check under Tools|Options|Compatiblity re print metrics. Also a lot of the issues with Word 97 are corrected with Word2000 and likewise Word2000-Word 2003
