      Francois,
Thanks for that, obviously that is how nesting works and is displayed. I was of the notion that it could be displayed like Access 97 where the 2 subforms were displayed independantly of each other on the main form yet were related by the special text field that was required to be setup.

      Charlotte,
What is the forthcoming “Hot Patch” all about?
Is it related to the subform problem I am having?
What SR are we up to with Access 2000, I ask, as I have not used Access 2000 much, I’m still deeply into Access 97.
      Thanks for your help

      Francois,
That’s part of the problem. My requirement is I need to show the subforms as a continuous type of form. In Access 97 when I needed to go 2 levels deep I would just set up a text field on the main form that got part of the key of the 1st subform that the 2nd subform then used to display records related to the 1st subform record. The 2 subforms were laid out on the main form and not with the 2nd subform embedded into the 1st subform.
The problem with displaying the 2nd subform in datasheet format is that I cannot nest any deeper than that, am I correct in saying that?
      Thanks
      Pat

      Thanks,
I found my way there eventually, however, I am still having trouble setting up a main form and three nested continuous (can I use continuous for my subforms?) subforms. My subforms need to be continuous subforms.
      TIA

      Thanks Francois,

The help you gave me says that you can only have 2 nestings deep, or is this a hangup from Access 97.
I include the quote from Access 2000 help:
      —————————————————————————————————————————-
Create a form with a subform that contains another subform
Before using this procedure, make sure you’ve set up your table relationships correctly.

You can use this procedure to create a form and two levels of subforms that have a one-to-many relationship. The main form has a one-to-many relationship with the first subform, and the first subform has a one-to-many relationship with the second subform.
      —————————————————————————————————————————-

How do I goto KB and find the article that you found? If you have an example I would appreciate it.

      TIA
      Pat

      Thanks Charlotte,
You were right, it’s about nesting subforms. I need to nest up to 3 levels under the main form. How do I do that? Is there any doco I can read to give me any ideas. Actually I would appreciate it if you have an example that you might email to me as I have to get something going for work tomorrow. My email address is pthorn@unite.com.au or at work pthorn@smorgonsteel.com.au
      TIA
