I use spywareblaster on all my windows machines and add it to those of the people I help. It is so easy to use simply hit update once a week then enable all protection, it sits in the background and does it’s thing helping to protect us, one more added layer of security.

My preferred distro is Mepis, very nice easy to use distro, works really well with most setups, you can take a look here.
      http://www.mepiscommunity.org/miniguide/index.html
Mepis 8.5 is now available but I am currently using 8. Mepis has KDE which I tend to prefer.
there is also a very good forum dedicated to Mepis at

the only negative I have seen thus far on the forums is that some ESET NOD users are having difficulties and should disable during install.
Seems pretty smooth sailing for such a large load.

there are some very good free screen capture programs that allow you to capture just a specific area, an entire page etc this may be an option, having one that is not locked into the browser is nice in case you need to capture something not in the browser window. You can then save the capture in a form that you can save and print. I just helped my sister with this, she was trying to print from a webpage that would not allow printing, so using a screen capture program she was able to capture what she needed and then print from the capture.
when looking for good free safe utilities like that I go to Gizmo’s site for suggestions.

when that happens open a second firefox browser instance(not a tab) and drag it out to full size, then shut the original smaller browser window using the file>close option not the x, then on the second full size firefox instance close it the same way by using the file>close/quit option, the next time you open the window it should then have the same full size as the last window you closed.
