Worked it out – too basic an error to bore you with an explanation.

      Cheers

Have now sorted the problem out – don’t know how, or what was wrong, but all is back to normal now.

      Cheers

      Catharine

Under the File, Recent Webs list there are 2 items listed, as follows:

1 C:Documents and SettingsAdministratorMy DocumentsMy Webs
2 my website address on Netfirms

When I click on 1, nothing happens and the FP screen stays grey. When I click on 2, the username/password request box comes up for my Netfirms site address (as might be expected).

This is getting really annoying. Why do these things just “happen”? AAAARRGGH!

Thanks, jscher2000 – I think you’re right in your assessment. But how do I stop FP “automatically opening the web from the server rather than from your local drive” please?

Just a quick follow-up for anyone interested. I actually ended up creating a flow chart in Excel and importing it to my FP web. Looks great, and is easy to change if necessary.

      Cheers

Think that first post was pretty unclear. I’ll try again.

All I’m trying to do is create a flow chart type diagram showing a family tree of rock bands. I want to have the name of each band in rectangular boxes, with the names of the band members under each box, and where they went to indicated (ie: new bands they formed after leaving the original band). That is, each box will be connected to other rectangular boxes, representing the evolution of the bands as they formed. Clear as mud?

I have been trying to do it the hard way, using tables in FP, but realise I’m making life very hard for myself. Have experimented in Excel and Word, and haven’t really worked out the best solution yet. Would be grateful for some advice, if anyone has experience setting up flow chart type diagrams like this and putting them on webpages using FP.

      Cheers

Thanks, Ian – I’d given up on receiving an answer to this query. Meanwhile, my test guest book entries are looking pretty silly. I’ll be glad to try your suggestion and erase them.

      Cheers

So, I do have to learn HTML after all – is this what you’re telling me, jscher2000?!

Seriously, I was wondering if FP revealed code could be used in the way you describe, so thanks.

      Cheers

      Thanks, Catharine.

Do I take it from what you say that one can’t modify the discussion group setup after all the options have been selected (ie: get it right as you do it, or you have to start again)?

Also, does a BB slow down the rest of the site in terms of download time for other pages, please?

“(If you preview it in FP, do you still see the “[FrontPage Save Results Component]” text, and at the top of the window, the warning as per the attachment?):

No, Leif, I don’t see it in FP….only on the published webpage! The server does support FP extensions, but maybe not all of them are activated or something? Anyway, if you’re right – and you have been for everything else – I guess it’s now a matter I have to take up with Netfirms.

Thanks so much for your help.

      Hi Leif

Dunno what I’ve done, but everything is now ok, apart from that “FrontPage Save Results Component]”, which still appears on the form on the website.

The server does have FP exts.

Very appreciative of your feedback – thank you!
