When I read your ride about fonts last night, I thought that might be it. However, when I got to the office this morning and tried changing the font, it didn’t work. If I copy all of the text into a newe document, it works fine (but then again, the new document has all of my formatting options set). I looked in the styles and there are some strange entrys for Asian/Korean text, and I don’t know how to change those. This file might have started as WordPerfect for all I know, and I think that sometimes causes a problem. I might just switch to the default Word 2007 settings because I doubt that anyone I work with tweaks all the settings like I do and often what I see on screen is not what they see and it causes issues when the doc is printed. Thanks, anyway.

I thought that might work, but hadn’t tried it yet. I wish I could figure exactly what is causing the problem, but I guess I’ll just have to convert to using Word 2007 options all the time. Thx.

Thanks for the code, Gary. I appreciate it.

On caveat, though, and this might be related to the reply about different locations: my links to macros on the QAT and separators did not come across. However, 90% of what I had on the bar worked, so I’m happy. I just have to add a few separators and a few macro links and I’m ready to go.

      Thx.

Well, if all else fails, read the directions! 😉 This worked great! Thanks a lot. Now I don’t have to spend an hour recreating the QAT by hand.

I might have misspoken about the margins. I did mean indents/out-dents. In any event, while your suggestion is helpful in the right situation, the styles in the document are from someone else’s template (or in the doc itself) rather than in my template because I received the doc from a third-party. So, I don’t want to apply MY styles; I just want to reapply the document’s styles. I did this manually for way too many paragraphs so I thought a macro would work. I can probably write a macro to scroll through each paragraph, but I’m not sure I know the code to check the current style and reapply it (although if no one has any suggestions, I’ll try recording some code and modifying to see if I can get it to work). Thanks!

Hmm, maybe I didn’t completely understand your first set of instructions, so I might try again by opening both files and replacing the schema. I didn’t quite catch the nuance of that I had to move the schema from the one to the other. Thanks for the additional instructions!

      Kim,

BTW, I tried your suggestion, but it didn’t work for me. Not sure why. Probably operator error. 😉

In any event, I think I’m just going to recreate my office QAT settings by hand at home.

      Thx.

I need hyphenation on in the document.

      Kim,

Thanks. I will try modifying the references to see what happens.

I tried renaming it .officeui (as suggested in the other thread). Does it make a difference that Word 2007 is on a Windows XP laptop and I’m running Word 2010 on a Windows 7 laptop? I wouldn’t think so, but one never knows.

    • in reply to: Word 2007 – Force Screen Refresh #1318419

      Kim,

Thanks for the suggestion. I will try that. I tried something more complicated in a macro, but Application.ScreenRefresh is much shorter. As I wrote to Gary, I didn’t even know that ScreenRefresh was an available command.

      Gary,

Thanks for the reply. You gave me an idea for a macro that uses a bookmark and PageUp. However, then I saw Kim’s suggestion, so I thought I’d try that. I didn’t know there was a ScreenRefresh command (although I guess I should have assumed there was). 😉

    • in reply to: Add to Dictionary Grayed Out in Word 2010 #1318042

My problem with the Add to Dictionary option somehow resolved itself. I’m not exactly sure what fixed it, but it started working a day or two after I posted the question. I think it might have been related to two extra custom dictionaries that were left over from a prior install of the American Institute of Architects contract docs software, but I don’t know for sure. In any event, Add to Dictionary seems to be working now. Thx.

    • in reply to: Macro to Unassign Keyboard Assignment #1256826

Thanks for the code. After I posted the message I found something in the VBA help for Word that seems to work. It used the .DISABLE method of FindKey (I think), but I switched it to .CLEAR. When I used .DISABLE, ^K didn’t work at all, but if i used .CLEAR, it it just unassigned.
