I use Libre Office (as recomended by windows secrets) and also have Ashampoo word processor that I use sometimes.I do not have any version of microsoft office installed yet I still get updates to late versions of microsoft office offered. I assumed that this may be because the office compatibilty pack may have crept onto my computer.

If I hunt it down I assume that it can be uninstalled without having any impact on Libre office or the Ashampoo word processor?

Thanks, for that information, I guess that part of the problem is that being a brit I forgot that disc is spelt disk in the States

I have known about diskmgmt.msc on and off over several years and only found it each time through the forums. It doesn’t seem to be mentioned in magazines, ever. There may be several other useful snipets like diskmgt but we wouldn’t know about them unless mentioned here. If there are, could some kind soul write them up in the forum?

I notice that several members have copied PSP on windows 7 from XP and simply copyied and pasted the registry entry over. This is a totally new concept to me as I previously thought the registry could not be tamperd with let alone be copied from different versions of windows.

Can anyone offer advice on this?

I have Window Vista home premium and IE 9, I installed the patch in question with no problems
