Well, I tried it but the instructions were for the 700, 800, and 900 series. It caused some strange things t0 happen but I got it back to normal—still no change in the ink level indicator. Hmmmmm, any other ideas?

The model of the printer is HP Deskjet 5740, it has always properly, and yes the latest printer drives are installed and lastly it is a remanufactured cartridge.

Well, seems we had a virus that caused our problem. The next time we shut down and re-booted we had a message from Norton and the problem was corrected. Thanx for your help!

Phil, thanx for the reply. Both printer and print in Word are set to “auto”. I’m not sure I feel comfortable undertaking the process you describe—I’m not a geek—but since most of my printing is one sheet I think I’ll use it this way ’till my daughter-in-law comes up for Christmas next week—she is a geek—I’m sure she’ll take care of it. I sure appreciate your help—have a Happy Holiday!!!

When I go to “print” and get the print screen I put in that I want multiple copies of the document but I only get one copy at a time then have to hit print again. Any idea what’s wrong? Thanx in advance!

Lock task bar is not checked. I get the two headed arrow when I hold the mouse left click down and move over the edge of the task bar but it doesn’t do anything.

Bob, the old scanner is a HP 3200c. It performed well with Windows 98 but even after downloading the HP “fix” (twice) it won’t work. It will start a scan but stop about half way through. If I leave it alone for 15-20 minutes it will finish the scan. I’m just not into waiting that long each time I want to scan something.
