Update: Same problem just cropped up yesterday with TBird 6.0, with Compact folders turned off. Anyone else with same problem, or solution to same?

So far, no further problems since upgrade to TBird 6.0.

Tried turning off “Compact Folders”, but that didn’t work. Upgrading to 6.0, maybe that will work.

I use Google Chrome 5.0.375.55, both the install and the portable versions.

To open a second window just go to “Customize and control Google Chrome” (the little icon on the right that looks like a wrench) and select New Window or New Incognito Window, depending upon your preference.

I usually have both a regular and an Incognito window open when I am using Google Chrome.

I also use OpenOffice.org 3.2 Writer on an HP XP SP3 desktop, but have not had the same problem.

The only thing I can think of is that you say the DOC opens in Wordpad, and to my knowledge Wordpad is a watered down version of MSWord 6.

I would suggest trying the right click on a DOC file, select Open With, browse to your OpenOffice.org Writer exe file, select it and make sure you check the box for “Always use the selected program to open this kind of file”, then click the OK button.

It seems like your file associations have gotten screwed up somehow.

I have just recently become aware of the IrfanView http://www.irfanview.net/ capture capability. (I am using 4.00 currently) on my XP computers, work and home.

I used to use Gadwin, but find IrfanView works much more simply for quick and dirty screen captures, and I already use it for minor graphic adjustments, and it does not need to be installed.

Just go to Options and select Capture/Screenshot:

Set up your preferences in the Capture Setup dialog:

Click Start, and you are good to go.

I use the same rule to forward emails after moving to another folder, but I only receive the error message you describe the very first time the rule is run, thereafter it works fine. Have you checked to see if your rule works after the first time?

I use TBird 3.1, both installed and the portable version, but this is the same rule and results used in the 2.x versions.
