Same problem here. It just says “Build 7601”. This is a upgrade copy from MS from a Vista system. This was years ago. It has been updated with all updates as they have been issued.

I asked them if maybe it is something with the “trial” version. They assured me that the rescue disks (CD/floppy) should boot to TI. For rescue, they use a version of Linux. The CD/floppies do start booting. They get to where the rescue version of TI should start. At that time it gives a “kernal panic!” message and halts. I burned a rescue CD on two different machines. The CDs and floppies give the same results. The “safe” rescue disks do boot to TI but this version does not support a number of devices including PCMCIA .

I think I tried build 598 just yesterday, but it is no longer loaded on my computer so it may be just 595. It was fresh yesterday though.

Yes, tne CD now has a directory with files showing. They are the same as on the rescue floppies. There may still be some hidden files. I exect there are for I can’t imagine how it boots from a directory on the CD with no files showing on the root.

I keep coming back to the fact that it is a “trial version”. I’d sure hate to spend the money and still have something that does not work though. For testing, they had me delete a “quiet” parameter in a config file. On booting, the process would display about 4 screens of boot messages. I’d take digital shots of them and send them to support. They’d then have me make other changes to the file and try again. This was with two of my computers. Still no luck and they fnally had to stop. I just hope that others try their rescue disks BEFORE they are needed! Bad surprises are not happy surprises.

I too was recently looking for a good image backup software. I really like the features and specs for True Image. I downloaded the trial version, True Image Version 7. I did an install on one of my computers and immediately created the rescue disks, both CD and floppy. As my interest is disaster recovery, I tried a boot with the rescue disks, both CD and floppy. Both crashed during loading. I then tried them on three different machines, HP ze5600 laptop, HP 7850 desktop, and a Sony PCG-505FX. All crashed during booting with the same error message. Note: The “Safe” rescue disks would boot but not the full rescue disks.

I contacted support and they worked with me to find the cause. They had me change config files and take snapshots of the boot screens. In the end they had to give up. I can’t fault their assistance, but I am really puzzled about the problem. My group machines are quite different. The Sony is an old 64MB machine. The ze5600 is brand new with 512MB and has no floppy drive (see the need for CD booting for rescue?) .

Any suggestions? TI features would make it a great program if only I could do a recovery.

Thanks all for the help. I did go to the compatibility wizard and told it to run under Win2K. What do you know? It now works fine.

It is not either version that is in XP. I tried swapping the versions but XP is too smart for me. While I could rename the file, XP would somehow create another with the original name.

      <>
The application does not load or have its own copy of comctl32.

There is a new version, but it is not XP specific. I might upgrade to that anyway but hope I would not end with the same problem. The application is CAMEDIA Master 2.0 which is software that came with my Olympus digital camera.

      Thanks for your thoughts.
