      Ctrl+ESC = the windows key…

      But this does not allow key combinations such as Windows-E or Windows-L to bring up explorer or lock the workstation.

      His laptop is never used to connect to his desktop, does not file share or use a printer. If a transfer of a file is needed he uses a USB stick.

      A USB stick is just as effective at transferring viruses as a network connection. Running up to date real time virus scanners and on both PCs should help to protect you.
