Thanks for the tip on renaming…I don’t know how I did it before but that seems to be what screwed up.

I assume the Mail Control box is the File, Data management box? I can get that box to add the pst file but it does not stay added and will not delete or close no matter what.

the exact error message is: The operation failed. An object cannot be found.

When I move or rename it, then the error is: that the file cannot be found at the path of the original.

any other thoughts other than reinstalling Outlook?

      thanks again,

      tom

      Arthur and J-

We’ve started having this problem since we recently upgraded to 2002. On one machine, it would even just hang while composing a message. I did find that by turning off word as editor, you could continue composing (but the usage stayed at 100%) and even send the message. For now I’ve turned off Word, but it may be that going back to 2000 will be our final answer.

The only other issue I’m investigating is the use of Spam filters. We were using I Hate Spam and I could see some funny “screen resolution” issues, so we uninstalled it and switched to Junk Out (advertised on Woody’s home page). This seemed to solve all the issues I was afraid were coming from the other addon, but tonight Outlook locked up and disabled Junk Out with an error message saying JunkOut caused an error in Outlook. We’ll see.

If I still have these problems without using Word or other addons, I think I’ll need a complete reinstall of windows and office or go back to 2000.

      I’ll be following your progress.

      cheers,

      tom

thanks for such a quick reply. The screen shot helps me refine the question…

Are you using Word for your email editor? that is the problem for me. If I turn word off, I get the “underlined n” again, but using Word takes away this feature for me.

If there is no workaround for Word, I will have to give up the Auto Text (which I use a LOT) but I know how to fake that by using symbols and substituting AutoCorrect for Auto Text.

If you know how to make Word work, I’d love to know how…if not …thanks so much for the answer with a screen shot that helped.

      Shekerra-

Thanks so much… That was it. At first I thought “no way”…I’ve had a Palm forever…but I recently got a newer one and there WAS a lot of junk software it added…I don’t use the “To Go” feature so I uninstalled it and I’m fine now. Incredible how those little things can annoy one .

      Cheers,

    • in reply to: Using Palm with ACT! (Symantec) #522377

I’ve been an ACT user since ver. 2.0 and Palm since original Palm Pilot.

ACT 2000 has a new Palm link ver 2.0 which is excellent. It let’s you add a lot and customize a lot of the Palm display to show ACT data… and it’s free and fast.

      good luck
