If it is completely regular (every x frames only), then it is most likely a hardware issue. If not, are you somehow “grounding” the setup through some very subtle form of physical contact? HTH

If you’re firstCapping all your entries, then it seems something to do with searching ToString for the 2nd instance of UpperCase & only retaining everything before that. HTH

    • in reply to: Windows Search Can't find Itself #1208010

Is the windows search service running?
If not, what happens when you try to start it. You may have to check the error logs if it fails.

B Robertson, what this means is: have you gone to Control Panel->Admin Tools->Services->Windows Search? If Windows Search is not shown to have Started, can you try starting it?

If there is some kind of problem to this solution (perhaps even because you are running XP Home), let us know.

      Welcome to the Lounge!

What happens if you type http://www.microsoft.com/ into the location bar at the top of Windows Explorer & then press Return? If Internet Explorer is still your default browser, then it should open. If not, then something has indeed gone wrong with your system.

Watch out for that Woody Leonhard (see the bottom of this page)! He keeps on telling folks that best Security practice is to use Internet Explorer only in cases of emergency.

This thread has been finished for 6 weeks. Discussions about viruses, NOD32 & Comodo software are best raised in the Security & Backups Forum – regardless of how old the Operating System may be – by opening up a new thread there.

…….Can’t run an online scan with something like Trend Micro’s Housecall, because clicking on a link to it takes me somewhere else 🙁 Any suggestions?

What happens when Internet addresses are manually typed into the address bar of a browser?

My view is that specific questions about Writer or Calc would go into the Word Processing and Spreadsheets forum as appropriate, but any general questions about OO as a whole would be posted to this forum.

Mind you, I’m not a mod, and I’m sure one will be along in a moment if I’m wrong!

…. but then again, a Mod could come along and confirm that what you’ve said is just right!

    • in reply to: Firefox tabs #1207925

The only option – which you have probably already found – seems to be to allow new Windows rather than new Tabs to be opened. Working from a German language version & so having to guess at the English language words: Tools->Options->Tabs (first item).

    • in reply to: DVD Drive in Win 7 XP Mode #1207846

XP Mode is a Virtual Mode. That means that all the resources have to be on the HDD drive itself. The software that is calling for the CD has no understanding that you are in virtual mode. YOu should be able to try to point it to a necessary folder on your HDD. That folder should have the copied CD contents. HTH

    • in reply to: UPS Service #1207827

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uninterruptible_power_supply. It would sound like the OS had a UPS connected at one point, or could it be a service that was reconfigured at one point from your Control Panel->AdminTools folder?

    • in reply to: Installing Exchange Server 2007 management tools #1207786

If you’re running SBS, my strong instinct is that the Management Tools are already buried there in the infrastructure, and that you haven’t yet stumbled over them. What connection that has to reality is another question.

I am writing a report so if anyone can guide me in the right direction?

Can you be a bit more specific as to which direction you are going in and what (or who) the intended target audience of your report is?
Already two people have significantly different understandings of what you are asking about, and, for me, – having spent large amounts of time in both the US & the British Isles – either could have a closer understanding of our question……..

    • in reply to: Win 7 install Vs Win XP install #1207576

It’s probably best to use the technique described in the Microsoft allows bypass of Vista activation article. What works for Vista also works for Win7. That way, you’ll never have to activate the software (and so have to make a phone call to Microsoft.)

Have you tried starting by rightClicking on mmc.exe and choosing Run as Administrator? HTH
