    Note 1: On Thursday April 12, Microsoft rereleased 4093118 which now includes the fix for loss of static IP addresses that was introduced in the March updates. If you waited to install updates, it is now safe to do so. If you already installed the updates, you do not need to reinstall.

    Note 2: The Security only update of KB4093108 does not cause the loss of static IP addresses and thus is safe to install. Both Windows 7 updates do still have a side effect of causing a memory leak under certain circumstances. If you use Windows 7 or Server 2008 R2 as a file server and have set in the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\LanManServer\Parameters\EnableEcp to be 1, and are using symbolic links . Thus the memory leak may be slight. The impact of the Spectre/Meltdown patches in general have impacted Windows 7 in general.
